Apparentley both Blackburn and Louis were admirers of Burley, and Burley would probably have been up for fighting this fight - things were getting desperate!

However, he was no superstar, and although he fought and KO'd heavyweights during his career and in sparring, Burley would have had to have established himself at heavyweight and in spite of his great talent, that probably would have been impossible.

But perhaps Joe would have struggled with him. Deadly, but not the most adaptable, Louis would have been up against one of the most difficult fighters in boxing history, not to metnion an elusive fighter with incredible chin and stamina (never stopped), not to mention real power.

On the other hand, he's essentially a Welterweight with a history of losing to the bigger men with real quality. Which Louis certainly had.

Do you think Burley could have taken Louis the distance (15).

I honestly think he might have.

He would have more chance of doing so than most heavyweights.

This is how I feel about it - but I would probably pick Louis to stop him. Now, if Burley took Louis the distance, if he managed it, is there any sort of chance he'd...win? In your opinion.

Theoreticaly, but in practice he would have to fight to survive throughout which makes it unlikley.

Possibly, maybe even probably; but has been suggested it would of been merely;) an exercise in survival

No. Eventually he would have been put away. He would be tricky because he fights AWKWARD. Side on and slipping none stop and moving alot. Louis would get to him. He isn't good at cutting off the ring but he would just keep coming.

It'll be like the Conn fight but I don't think Burley can take what Conn did. Conn took some all mighty shots to head and body. Eventually that sort of work would put Burley away inside the 15 round distance.

Pea seemed to think he could take Hagler the distance and win a decision in his prime... Seems kinda like we are saying here but taking it a little further...

My answer is yes, but not most of the time.
