I dont see Cotto as a main stay @54 nor do i want to either , but i do think this a winnable fight , the pureists wouldnt give Cotto much credit for this one simply because Angulo is hovering around the gate keeper bracket , or maybe just above , however i do see this as a fan friendly affair . I think Cotto does as he pleases from 1 through 9 , then Angulo if he hasnt been stopped may come on strong and nick a couple of rounds down the stretch !!! Cotto UD for me :deal
I believe Angulo would overpower Cotto and beat him on sheer power and determination in a battle of attrition much like Margarito/Cotto. Angulo starts out slow so it's likely Cotto will win the first half of the fight but once he slows down Angulo will catch up to him and do a hell of a lot of damage. Angulo is slow like Margarito but he punches straight and has enough one punch power to deck Cotto once he gasses later in the fight. Cotto will not be effective at 154lbs against aggressive, physical fighters and the extra weight he is carrying on his stocky frame will mean he will get tired even faster under pressure. Even at 147 he could not match the bigger more powerful fighters but he had enough boxing ability to negate some of those disadvantages but there is no reason to believe he will be able to at 154.
As long as Cotto sticks to boxing, and refuses to get caught up in any heavy exchanges, he'll win a comfortable UD.
Idk about this one. Cotto would have to use a lot of movement like he did against maro. He's def. A better boxer, but he might succumb to the pressure again.
Cotto looked good last night because the punches didn't hurt. When he fights someone with power he is a totally different fighter. Thanks to Margo.
I think Angulo fights in July after that fight, Cotto vs Angulo is the one that could very well be pushed forward by HBO. I like Cotto in that one too !!
