Maybe, 160 is not a huge division right now. Geale loses to Pavlik and he won't beat Sturm in Germany. His best chance might be the vacant IBF title being decided by Sylvester and Lorenzo. Their some big talent coming through like Jacobs, Korobov, Golovkin and possibly Lara that might get in the way also.

Not by beating a high level opponent like Pavlik or Sturm.............. if one is vacated that possibly yes.

    Pavlik is A-/B+, so no.

    Sturm is C+, so maybe

The rest are weak, so possibly.

I think he has a good chance against Sturm.

    Of course.
He's just had his 22nd fight, and shook up one of OZ's best boxers (I still think he actually won).

He has plenty of time to better his skills further, it's early days yet.
I see a young Joe Calzaghe in Daniel Geale. :deal

Agree with the first part Sox.

A young Calzaghe is a huge call! But let's hope you're right.

Aussie boxing badly needs a dominant, homegrown force who people can relate to (no disrespect intended to Kostya & Vic).

I think Geale should not fight pavlik first up, pavlik would eventually tag Geale and it would be the beginning of the end. The same could apply to Arthur Abraham and I think his looping punches style could cause problems for Geale.

IMO Sturm is a winnable fight for Geale as long as he fights on the move and doesnt get frequently hit or outsmarted by the cagey little german, he could box the ears off most of the blokes below that

He can get a title, but he's not a world beater... every chance he could develop and would love to see him do so

I think Geal will win lots more fights but Like Mundine he needs to hunt for a vacant title.....I dont see him beating any of the top 2 or 3 fighters.

Agree with this. He might be able to pick up a vacant title or a BS WBA regular title if a champion has unified but he will have to do this against the right opponent because at world level he has zero power and a shaky chin. No way will he ever be ranked in the top 3 or 4 by ring magazine.

I think he could beat Sturm, however obviously not in Germany, which null and voids my thoughts completely.
