I didn't know you have been at contract negotiations ?

Its one thing to say, yeah ill fight but putting pen to paper is another thing all together isn't.

I got a feeling his next fight will be toney any how :good Lets be honest he needs to fight a name known to casual uk fans anyway to sell the show. Yeah he does have a point sometimes, Look at the shape rahman, toney, peter, mcline etc...... come into the ring :thumbsup

Well like I said . . . and I have posted this repeatedly on all Hayes HYPE THREADS . . . how can you declare him the future of the division when he is not tested yet . . . not even against the lower fighters at the top ten? :D :yep

If that's not OVER HYPED . . . then what is it?

Haye shows great potential and is a flashy and exciting fighter, but he will be fighting guys his own size and weight and his defense is slipshod. He brings excitement and is entertaining, and I do think he will be ranked.

But as for being an elite and challenging for the title, Time will tell. As of now he would be an underdog against quite a few guys. Gomez, Sinail, Virchis, McCall, Ibragimov, Thompson, Povetkin would all beat him I think, at the least give him a tough time.
Other than the win against Mormeck, who was a bit long in the tooth, he was not really beating any great fighters at Cruiser. He won the titles, but there are a number of good fighters that he didnt face. Not to say he ducked anyone, he did not. But he was not really challenged by most of his opponents

I really dont have an opinion on Haye at this point as a HW. Once I see how he handles himself at the higher weight with a couple of heavy handed fighters then I will decide if Haye is all mouth or can actually back up what he say's.

Depends on what you mean by 'succeed'. Can he be a contender in this weak division, or even win a belt? Yes, that's possible, depending on who he fights. Can he unify the belts and become the next true champ? No, he can't.

Haye has a bad chin. That's a fact. People argue that his chin will be better now that he's heavier, but I doubt that. If you got a weak chin, you will always have a weak chin. I know Wlad Klitschko and Lennox Lewis have shaky chins too, but at least they were always getting knocked down by true HWs who were big punchers too (Sanders, Brewster, Peter, McCall, Rahman...). Haye gets knocked down by CWs (Mormeck), former LHWs (Carl Thompson) and former SMWs (Lolenga Mock). Indeed, I think Wlad Klitschko and Lennox Lewis do have much better chins than Haye. Also, Haye leaves himself open after throwing his renowned 'Hayemakers', he has terrible defense, he tries to duck punches like Roy Jones did but he isn't talented enough to do that. So sooner or later he will get caught, and he will be knocked out.

People argue that Haye is so fast, and indeed he is fast, probably the fastest HW right now, but people also forget that Haye has bad stamina. So he won't be that fast anymore after 6 or 7 rounds. And his stamina will certainly not improve by him bulking up, becoming even more muscular and heavier. Haye is like a body-builder, and he looks like one too - strong but no stamina. Haye has had only two fights where he fought more than 8rds in his career until now, I see him run out of gas in the championship rounds.

Haye is limited...his chin is weak and he hasn't the height advantage of a Wladimir Klitschko who can throw jabs all night long to avoid the infight. He can win a belt, yes, but he won't become a great champ.

I think Haye will do just fine. He has some flaws but I dont know if those flaws are so odvious in the HW division. Sure he would be wise to keep his left up higher, of course...

Why mention his chin? Cant be much worse than Wlad's:huh

He should enjoy a slightly higher footspeed than most up there. He should enjoy a handspeed advantage over some. And shoould enjoy a slender physique at a lighter weight , improving his stamina in a slower divison as well.

    He should be fine.

I like Haye and think he easily has the talent to get a belt

    BUT...............

What really annoys me is that people say he has a large frame?? He really doesn't. He has a relatively small build, as most tall men do.

And 'He is so athletic' Is he? Based on what?? Any fights of him that I have seen he looks fast and powerful, but he misses a lot of his punches when he's tryng to blast out his opponents.

Good luck though David. You'll need it against Wlad!

I think HW is a mixed bag for Haye. I think that he can pull off some upsets, but his chin will probably get him in trouble versus less talented competition. The thing that bothers me is that people are upset that he isnt fighting top ten competition at HW. Give him a break, he just made the jump from Cruiser. Does he run his mouth too much? Probably. Will his chin get exposed at HW? Probably. Is he exciting as hell to watch? Definitely.

I'm not sure what kind of success the man has in the division, but you can bet your ass I'm going to watch him. He reminds me of Fernando Vargas. You watch him because you know someone is getting KTFO (Unfortunately for Vargas he was typically the one on the canvas). Point is, the man is exciting and is now in the most high profile division in boxing. I wish him well.

    That's for the kinda compliment...

Chambers is not old, he may not be Mr Universe, but I wouldn't call him fat.

As it stands, Haye is accused of pursuing the easy KOs in the division.

I think Haye is the kind of personality that will attract criticism for whatever he does.

I would love to see him fight Toney but I dont see why he should rush straight in there with a top HW (although Toney can only losely be regarded as such due to the distinct lack of current talent). Haye has only fought once at HW and although his opponent wasn't up to much, Haye despatched him with consumate ease.
I think even a part shot Rahman is a sensible option. If he takes him out without too much fuss then bring on the likes of James Toney.

Unfortunately there seems to be a general feeling of dislike towards David Haye and most of it appears to be coming from stateside! I feel for you guys not having many decent world champs around anymore but hey that is no reason to hate on someone cos he aint from the US!

Give the guy a chance, you might even come to like him and respect his style and power.

Who knows one day I may be a fan of Haye, but he's not going far to earn my support...by pursuing the "easiest name KO he can find."

I have nothing against Haye or the good Brits, my problem is the fraud he is attempting to pass off onto his British public...who he is no doubt assuming knows nothing of Rahman other than his going 1-1 with Lewis, a low class move and insult to his country men.

The U.S fans have enough of a grasp on reality to admit that Thompson, Brock, and Austin can't beat WLAD...so I would hardly consider it wise for you to say, "the Americans are the ones coming down on Haye..."...we've been pretty consistent in our analysis of WLAD's competition, without respect to national borders.

Haye is just another guy who does a good interview, the best interviewer WLAD has fought...but he'll be just another KO.

Haye has claimed that when he fights Wlad he will ko him, he is allowed to big himself up as pretty much every boxer in history does it!!!
you say 'he'll be just another ko'. well that is your opinion and you are entitled to it but there is no substance to what you say, I think you are wrong and i'll tell you why - Haye is very very quick, skillfull and has huge power. Wlad will feel the power early and will **** himself. All of Wlads most recent fights he looks petrified at the thought of getting hit.

Finally, I consider myself to be a pretty knowledgable fan of the finest art and I dont see that Haye is looking for easy KO's. I see that he is taking time and finding a sensible opponent to make his bow at the weight. What would be stupid would be if he ended up losing because he tried to run before he could walk.

    Peace
