Or does this undermine his chief trainer Nacho Beristain? Doesnt this smack of lack of trust in Beristain, I was very surprised when De la Hoya brought in Dundee as an advisor and I think it will only serve to confuse him. Beristain is not going to tell oscar he isnt happy at Dundee being involved because oscar will just fire him and bring in the next guy. I prefer the way that pac has just the one main guy to listen to in freddie roach and has complete trust in him. I dont think the same can be said for de la hoya, if he had complete trust in Beristein why bring the biggest name trainer in the history of the sport into the camp?? And who takes credit for the victory?? (if it happens) Do you think this factors in the fight, if something is going wrong for oscar who will he turn too first???
I honestly believe the move is more press related then anything . . . Adds another dimension to the story, good or bad i dont think it will have any affect on the fight . . . Not to disrespect Dundee as a trainer or anything at all not like he cant help i just dont know if thats what he is there for
I was thinking the whole press thing too, but how sad would it be if oscar has done it purely for the press. Perhaps that tells him his calling in life lies beyond boxing and is now in the media and promotion and not in the ring.
He might be able to tell him a thing or 2 that he might actually remember to do,otherwise he will resort back to how he always fights once underway
he doesn't need dundee...it is all about promoyion..he is all about perception and he lost touch of reality
Got to wonder why a legend like Dundee is wasting his time on this bum....I mean he's 87 years old for ****s sake, surely he's got better things to do than this :huh
It is all media and promotion. Remember that Oscar wants to be the first fighter to reach a billion dollars. After he beats Pac and then fights Hatton, it could be reachable. He fights, promotes, and has other things being invested. I still believe he will leave the fight game with one more last harrah. Whoever is the number one guy at 147 when he is done with Pac and Hatton. Whether it be Marg, Cotto, or whoever.
The ego is the last thing to go with a boxer, and oscar has a big ego like pbf If oscar beats pac he will want hatton next and then if he won that he will want a rematch probably with pbf Then he will retire and the next big thing arrives on the scene and here come oscar once again to do it ONE last time lol
I'm equally sure old Angelo doesn't need the money though....just seems strange to me that the old guy would waste his time like this. Hopefully he's deliberately giving him **** advice, and for once in his life Oscar listens
umm yeah i think dundee is good for hoya. he's big on training and big on jabs. 2 thinks oscar needs for the fight.
