Do you think Emmanuel Navarrete can beat the record of 10 successful defenses in world championship of the legendary boxer of Philippines Gabriel Flash Elorde in Super Featherweight ? If he win the 10th May against Charly Suarez the Mexican have to make 6 defenses successful again of his WBO World belt for equalize the record of Gabriel Flash Elorde.
Elorde doesn't have the record for most title defenses. Brian Mitchell holds the record at 12 title defenses. Takashi Uchiyama is at second place with 11 defenses. But to answer your question. Seeing as how Navarrete is a lazy bum, I doubt he will get that far.
Because fighters don't fight as often these days, that many defenses is a more difficult proposition that it was in the past. Navarrete has fought an average of twice year over the last four years. At that rate it would be late 2027 or early 2028 before he beats the record. It is unlikely Navarrete will still be world class at super featherweight at that age.
Yes it will be difficult you're right with 2 fights / per year. And many peoples said that Emmanuel Navarrete is on the decline.
Really ? I think Emmanuel Navarrete will win by a late TKO like 10-11. But Suarez is not on the Navarrete level he don't really proof anything for me to make me serious doubt of the result. Of course I will see the fight because Charly Suarez is the ranked number 1 of the WBO.
Not really, he's a solid all around switch hitter with good head movement and slippery defense. He hits hard enough to get his opponents attention and give the pause, and has similar intangibles to a guy like Berinchyk.
