Do you think Floyd Mayweather is a top 5 greatest boxer of all time?

Willie Pep is considered the best. There are also many boxers who are considered defensively better than Mayweather. Dude you need to seriously research boxing. This thread you have started along with your comments shows you need to broaden your knowledge in boxing history. It should be very entertaining for you also.

 

I don't think he knows too much of boxing outside the last few eras.

 

Pep, Whitaker, and Locche are generally peoples top 3 I believe.

I think the list is highly subjective. I have seen both fighters floating around in the top 10. Coming from so called experts who have followed boxing alot longer than me and who have more clout in the boxing community than myself one of them being Bert Sugar. I think he had Pep at 3 and Ali at 7. I think you can argue for Ali but I would have Pep higher.

I believe the only thing that can be said with any solid foundation is that both boxers were ahead of their time.

 

no. having to the mentality to use undue advantage on his opponents to the extreme of using peds and playing safe in the ring while employing so much evasion to avoid fireworks drags him down the atg rankings as atg's are more ranked in the fighting heart ability. greater heart beats great skill in the atg.
