Do you think Frank Warren feels under pressure to move DeGale on quicker?

Because, people forget after the fact just how past their best they were, they just see the name when they look at your resume, which makes it look even more solid when reeling off your credential, plus, those guys are obviously skilled however diminished they might be physically, which generally means they are capable of putting up a fight and not getting blown out, but their probably not going to push you enough to beat you, which means you can learn a lot more from those type of fights.

I dont see Smith-De Gale as a test to be honest, De Gale is far more skilled than Smith imo, Smith is also not a particularly big puncher so....

Smith is a safe bet for De Gale, to my eyes at least.

I believe that George Groves is something special and definitely better than DeGale.

he is paying DeGale close to 100k a fight and he got a huge signing on bonus so he needs to recoup some of that cash. Guys like Paul Smith who sells 5000+ tickets in his hometown and the likes of Ricky Burns, Nathan Cleverly and Kell Brook who are at world level now are not getting paid that much.

So Warren needs to recoup that cash. Amir Khan who was moved allot faster than many give him credit for, was still able to give Warren a return on investment because he sold out arenas for 6 round fights and got 8million on ITV. DeGale is not a massive ticket seller and hasnt got Frank Warren a more lucrative TV deal than he would have got anyway. Therefore he has to get DeGale in bigger fights to make him an attraction.

DeGale vs Groves would do big business in London and would have been the most anticipated fight if it was the Mag 7 bill. Its as big as Macklin vs Barker already. DeGale vs Smith in Liverpool is also a big fight. Allot of people like myself don't rate Smith but he is in the top 10 with the WBC, WBA and WBO so if DeGale beat him he wouldn't be far from a World title.

Paul Smith would smoke him, and Im prepared to bet on that. What has degale done as yet , Paul Smith time and time again mixed it with the best in the country and there have been some tough nuts, take the two last fights in the city. Im not saying he is the best in the world but hes much more than Degale

Frank would be totally gambling that Degale could produce the goods. He's not fought anywhere near this level yet, hasn't even seen a trench never mind set foot in them.

I agree with you - Quigley, Smith and the like are experienced, tough guys. Smith wouldn't be folding as soon as Degale turned up the heat, far from it. I don't think Degale is anywhere near ready.

    This fight won't be happening...

Warren must feel some pressure because Degale is always saying "fast track me frankster!" and genuinely wants to be stepped up. Smith would have no chance against Degale, it's fair to say that. The chap lost at British level and is having wars at british level against the likes of quigley and Dodson. And Smith thinks he will go on to fight for a world title. Against who? Arthur Abraham? That wouldn't be pretty.

Poor post. Degale would feast on Dodson or Quigley, both limited fighters who are around the same level as Smith. You won't see Degale losing to Steven Blendall.
