I think it happens if Fury loses again. If Fury loses, an AJ fight is probably his biggest money option on the table. if Fury wins? And the fight was a good one? Then he fights Usyk once more for a trilogy.
It will definitely happen barring shock injuries or retirements. Usyk will beat Fury again, then where else can he go? For AJ, he is not going for that Dubois rematch straight away because he knows if he waits, the big money Fury fight is still there. So the issue is not this fighting happening but happening when neither man is at his best and it is no longer for all the marbles.
I think that for the fight Fury Vs. AJ be deprived as we are for the fight AJ Vs. Wilder remained denied.
Very possible, as long as Joshua is pushed to the forefront, this fight can happen, and everyone who really deserves a chance will be waiting.
Agreed we would all still like to see Joshua v Wilder but there is more chance of Fury v Joshua happening due to the money involved. Wilder v Joshua when it mattered would have been huge as would Fury v Joshua however due to being UK fighters Fury v Joshua now would still be a big event even if both are double losers to Usyk .
Another quick reminder that he signed the contract to fight Fury in 2021. And Fury turned down the fight for April 2019. 60/40.
You’re not wrong there and it would be a highly flawed and “lazy” argument on Fury’s part. Usyk does the hard yards but Fury banks on the one possible victory over Usyk as inheriting all the credit Usyk has gained in his OWN right. Credit gained NOT by degrees of separation and the often faulty concept of A beat B who beat C so A beats C, rather, credit gained by direct and material proof of his superiority over the actual opposition in question. Putting aside all the alleged whys and wherefores trying to explain away Fury’s performance vs Nagannou - virtually pretending like it didn’t happen, the material fact is that Tyson struggled mightily and arguably lost. AJ unequivocally flattened that same Ngannou in less than 2 rounds. Suffice to say, Fury would conveniently “waive” application of the “A beat B who beat C etc..” concept when it came down to his and AJ’s most recent comparative results - merely looking at a one possible win over Usyk as “proof” of his superiority over AJ. As it stands now, but for the dodgy referee, Fury was basically stopped by Usyk in their one and only fight to date - while AJ went the full fight route (x 2) over a total of 24 rounds vs Olek.
Yeah it's such a big payday for all involved. Will most likely sellout Wembley. Neither will be the best in the division when it happens but that's boxing.
AJ will duck untill he is absolutelt sure Fury has aged out. He wont even have Wilder who is weak as a kitten at the moment.
