Yes these boxers and top athletes are delusional

I think Wilder still thinks Fury cheated against him in their 2nd fight

Dear god, no. He didn't even really try on the second fight.

Hard to know since he's deluded but also one of the more sensible boxers on his better days.

I think he believes he should have won the first and maybe still nicked it if people liked 'his work'. By 'should have' it means if he hadn't been concussed by that punch that turned the fight and a concussion that likely was influenced by taking bombs a few months earlier. I think that's understandable. We'll never know if the circus fight did impact his punch resistance but it's definitely likely.

Second fight probably denial especially since he didn't get caught big but his boxing didn't save the day probably because he was too gun shy after the first.

I think he knows the first fight is the one that got away and that's what really kills him. It's similar to the Groves Froch saga really. Groves had the fight in his hands in the first but lost it and then got beaten the second but knew that he was capable of winning on the night if he just got it right .

People say Groves would always lose but in that second fight it was really one mistake that cost him and if he didn't try that counter hook, it's unlikely he'd have been easily KO'd the next 4 rounds since he was hardly taking damage, which means he had a good shot of getting a decision. You just don't get too many chances in this sport. You can't keep rematching like in tennis or athletics where you meet all the time.

It's certainly very difficult for these top guys to accept when they've lost.

A lot of their mental strength stems from the fact they don't believe they can be beat.

I don't know what Fury really believes, but if he thinks he's lost then he will be a diminished fighter.

He knows he didn't beat Usyk and it's bad for his ego, so that's why he's acting like that...

To suggest he thinks he won underrates Fury. He understands boxing very very well, so no he knows he lost; all of this is an act in Defense of his public image and opportunities for more $$$. I wish he got sparked in that first fight to save us all this talk. Even then he might still have cried robbery that he was still punching from the canvas and the ref should not have stopped the fight

He definitely thought he won. Wtf are people saying. Him thinking he won and that being reality are two different things. Pac also thought he beat a Floyd and Loma thought he beat Teo. These guys are ultra competitive and to get to this level it’s hard not to be a sore loser.

In the fight or immediately after in the ring? Sure, but after watching it back multiple times, I’ll be surprised. Shane was on video saying usyk won, would be surprised if that conversation haft happened internally. Again him saying all this stuff I think is about ego and $$$

The only rounds he conclusively won were 456 and he nearly got chinned so that's not a close fight.

He possibly deluded himself into thinking he won.

Having said that, it’s not always easy to process when you’re one of the combatants - your own successes during a fight being uppermost in mind.

Watching a replay of the fight may give a fighter a better, more objective perspective.

Later in the piece, Fury did ply a few excuses as to why his performance might not have been as good it could’ve been (too much clowning, insufficient sparring due to previous cut etc.) - so that might been seen to contradict his claim that he though he won.

I'm sure his stupid, delusional ass believes he's never lost at anything in his life.
