What is there for him anymore at 168? Yes, Andre Ward before anyone says him but he's not the big money fight they want let's be honest. Other than that is there anyone worth moving up for? DeGale, Groves, Zurdo, Dirrell? Not really. It's probaby more beneficial to him to stay at 160 and wait for that shot against Cotto/Canelo and just keep doing what he's doing in the meantime which is fight middleweight contenders who aren't exactly elite but are alright. Maybe Lara, that'd be a good fight.
theres no incentive anymore he just needs to stay where he is, gather all the belts, and go down in history as one of the greatest middleweights of all time its kinda good he didnt move up. yeah he could have won, but from then on in everyone would be demanding he fights 168ers
The current money fight in the division has just retired, may as well clean out at 160 and see if any of the young pretenders at 168 can build a significant following.
what is there for him. they're saying 160 is a wasteland, but clearly current 168 is even worse. and like predicted the same thing happens at 168 as what happens at 160. Operation RUN B*TCH, RUN! when Golovkin comes around.
I kind of agree, I'm always mixed about this and keep changing my mind but I've always felt in the back of my mind that if he moved up to 168 he wouldn't be nearly as good, I don't think he'd carry up well in weight.
Yep, there's no guarantee those guys would even fight him and there are other difficulties as well (e.g. Dirrell being promo- sorry "advised" by Haymon).
Yeah. I think he is better off by just dominating 160. Maybe a couple of money fight at 168 down the road, for example Hopkins, Degale and Ward some point in time.
Like to see him vs BHOP....maybe at 170 but GGG would be wise to maintain his 167-172 fighting weigh. At that weight, his speed advantage would be enough to shut out old BHOP, similar to how Kovalev used his range to outbox him. Except GGG is the much better body puncher and while BHOP might do some spoiling early on inside, GGG would come away with the KO.
ward isnt a big money fight....but its still more than a geale or monroe fight...and will also earn him respect... but he doesnt want that.....cause hes a milker
Look we all know it's more than what he can make fighting Monroes of the world but he probably feels it's not enough money to warrant him moving up and facing such a fighter whilst most likely sabotaging some other potential fights he can have at MW. Not saying it's right or wrong but this is what the reality is at this time.
