No double standrad there. Hopkins does not hold nearly as much as Hatton. He holds when he needs to and its a tactical hold not punch hold punch hold hold which Ricky has been doing too much of in his last few fights esp. Yes Hopkins did hold more than usual in Winky fight but thats one fight and its not even comparable to Ricky's constant holding.
Hatton used to be exciting to watch. It seems since he's fought in America he's turned into a much more conservative fighter and adapting this "hit and hold" style way too much. I really hope we see the old Hatton in his next fight although my senses are telling me that he may be finished and will never be the same. He just isn't professional enough in my opinion to bounce back and recapture his old form.
Thats very unlikely too happen unless Hatton starts fighting B level cab drivers again and quits his drinking binges.
Hatton's fights are dull as dishwater, yet he has the nerve to keep claiming he fights like a Mexican and puts himself in the same bracket as Gatti, Chavez etc for excitement. Never saw a Mexican holidng and hugging like that. any half decent fighter can look good wailing away at duds...though even in the day of the WBU defences at MEN it's a real push to say they were exciting fights.
