LOL...indeed - 8/10 for effort tho. :good WRT to Haye, the thing I don't get is why he'd duck on such a significant payday. Unless he's already essentially set for life and is thinking in terms of legacy (or the harm to potential future earnings should he lose) it seems like too good a chance to pass up. IDK - if he's already loaded perhaps he wouldn't want the embarrassment of the loss after all the trash talk, but I mean £5 mil is a lotta reasons to get in the ring one more time - even if he gets beat up he can party away the rest of his life if he wants.
Haye might of had no intention of ever fighting again and went through all this to raise his celebrity profile. Its unfortunate that the Cunningham fight has been Fury's last fight for so long. A fight that was a shambles inside the ring and out. Im sure attuidues will change of Fury after his next few fights.
I do think he's either genuine...or!!! Or that Vitali has said yes to a fight in the spring. If Vitali doesn't announce the Stiverne fight in the next few weeks I shall be wondering if Vitali v Haye is in the works and is the real reason behind this. I don't for a second think Haye is afraid to lose to Fury - and even if somehow he was..getting beat is ok for £5million in most peoples books. I'd take a beating for £5million no bother. So fear of Fury is laughable. Haye was overwhelming favourite to KO Fury and get £5 mill for the pleasure. Now...as I said that leaves 2 possiblities - genuine injury or Vitali ie a bigger fight still is in the pipeline. Watch to see Vitali's next move for clues!
Oddly enough Haye always get "injured' right on the cusp of a scheduled fight. No question Fury intimidated Haye. He knew Fury would come pedal to the medal and do everything in his power to hurt Davey Boy. Classic scenario of the boy who cried wolf. No one believes anything Haye has to say anymore. The benefit of doubt was lost on this guy years ago.
after all the dealing we had with Haye for Wlad and Vitali, once david pulled out of the first scheduled fight with Fury, I thought the fight is done forever. This is what david does.... maybe its legit.... only david and his team know for sure, but his history of pulling out of fights is was makes fans scream "BS"
Yes. How many fights has he pulled out with because of injury? The Charr one I think he was definitely faking. I think he realised him vs Charr wasn't as big a pay day as he hoped. Fury #1... I think yeah, legitimate injury. Fury #2... I call bull****. He realised he doesn't want to fight, whether he wants to pursue his celebrity career, whether he's worried he'll lose and so his celebrity "stock" will deminish or whether his heart isn't in it anymore I don't know. But he doesn't want this fight.
Haye gets in with Wlad...goes all 12. Ok it was a stinker but he lasted the distance and Wlad who is leagues above Fury couldn't put Haye away. Wlad was even holding on for dear life near the end of the fight when Haye landed a nice right hand. Now this guy is scared to get in with Fury?? C'mon don't be silly guys..£5 million to get in there with Fury - win or lose and you think he bottled it ? You guys who think this have no idea. As I said..either genuine OR Vitali fancies this fight with Haye in the spring. One or the other certainly not Haye was scared of Fury - thats laughable.
i dont think he was scared of being hurt. He was scared of losing his credibility to someone perceived as another circus act. Lets face it fury was younger, bigger, fitter and haye was on the slide physically. defeat was a possibnlity, though I have no doubt prime haye would toast fury. haye is no stranger to faking injuries seems to be gertting common therse days, thinking of our very own joe calzaghe.
I agree with the Sir axeman post above. Haye got in the ring with Wlad. I can't see him being too worried about Fury even without any training camp. He was probably looking forward to this fight (not too difficult and good money). Haye was never a big HW and he isn't that young anymore. He probably just pushed his body beyond what it is capable at this point.
That's what I was thinking. By not fighting he loses out on a really big payday, at least if he fought and lost he'd still be getting the big payday. I do think he will probably come back though. Is there a source anywhere where he says he is actually retiring, I just remember the news being that the doctors advised him against fighting again. Did Haye actually say he was hanging them up?
why would a fighter turn down his biggest payday ever when he was going in the favorite? even if he thought he`d lose he`s a boxer and he`s no audley harrison he`d take his knockout/down and take the cash.. FFS people get injured some people arent as bullet proof as others, that doesnt make him a ***** ass, glass jawed, cherry picking british biatch.. thats just an ESB fantasy. i`m gutted he`s having to retire.
if he gets beat, sure he gets the money but he wont get a title shot for a while at least, and it will take good time and hard work to get it. if he 'retires' and then reemerges when the klitschkos release their titles, hes got a chance of getting a shot after a comeback fight, thus of maintaining his cred AND his earning capability well into his late 30s.
is he really getting surgery on his shoulder? who would take a picture of haye when he was under anaesthetic, just to tweet it? a journo? photography is usually forbidden in hospitals during operations.
