Arreola is just the kind of opponent I don't want Holyfield fighting. Arreola has his flaws but he's young, ambitious and aggressive. Guys like Ibragimov and Valuev gave Holy a lot of respect, arguably too much. I'm sure Arreola appreciates what he's done but he'll also want to knock him out to get that mark on his record. The last guy Holyfield fought that really went for him in a ruthless way was Toney. The rest since then have either been careful boxers or guys simply without the ability to really put their punches together for major damage (maybe the Savarese of the 1990s...) So no, I don't think Holyfield would beat Arreola. So I'd hate that fight to happen. Holyfield-Ibragimov - it was not a good fight, Ibragimov fought smart but not with much more punches than Holyfield did. He deserved the win, I thought he deserved 10 rounds, but there were some very quiet ones in there. Throughout you had the feeling that Sultan was boxing very much within himself...and then he got utterly outboxed in his next fight against Wladimir anyway, so it's not so valuable an achievement.
At least he has the chin and heart to contend with Arreola's power. But he gets hit too much these days, I think Arreola would stop him inside 8, though either a retirement or the ref stepping in after a lot of punishment.
What I heard from Al Bernstein before the Holyfield-Valuev fight was that Holyfield took a few rounds from Ibgragimov and for the most part was competitive enough....... Holyfield's workrate is the problem.....though an Ibragimov cant dominate him, Holyfield does'nt have the workrate to make a case for himself in alot of the rounds.
Btw, Arreola really looked like **** to me in his last fight. His power saved him. ......but I dont think he'd be able to do that against Holyfield. Arreola can very well tear into a non-punching and tired Holyfield if it got past the mid rounds........but off of what I saw from Arreola his last outing, I'd give Holyfield a legit shot to stop him. Arreola comes in aggressively with no defense, and since Arreola coming in would be supplying some of the power ruthlessly coming him.....Holyfield still got it in him to time him and possibly put him on ***** street. Agreed Arreola should be favored, but I think it a pretty even matchup. Btw, Arreola does'nt belong in the same ring with any of the Klitchko's and he'd get slaughtered by either.
This is a good fight for Arreola. At this point he is so grossly over rated it is stupid. He is going to get killed against Klitchko. He experience level is very weak and it shows. So are his skills. He has fought no one to date and Holyfeld would be a big step up even at his diminished state. If Arreola can stand in there with the ancient warrior and prevail he at least will walk away with level of confidence needed to step up to the elite level of even a weakened division.
Hype train?? He's one of the most disrespected HW prospects on ESB...always called fat and one-dimensional... It's sad because quite frankly he'd KO Evander...he's just too old for those sort of battles. But everyone is hating on Arreola and looking at past greatness in Holyfield. It's unfair to count the man out so quickly :verysad BUT! If such a fight WERE to occur...I would stand by my verdict on Arreola by KO...unless Arreola is GREATLY unmotivated coming in past his heaviest which was 254 then Holy might outbox the man... It's been noted that Arreola doesnt discipline well for fights he feels are pointless. He didn't want the Walker fight and that's why he looked like ****. I think with Wladimir...he'll be in the best shape of his life...Somewhere around 230 or possibly even 225!...He'll chop Wlad down...believe it! :good
Yeah I'd give Holyfield a good chance against Arreola, who is overrated in my opinion. Holyfield did a lot better against Valuev and I thought he deserved the decision. Perhaps a better fight would be Valuev againt Arreola.
