Nice post. Here's what Paul said about his game plan: "I don't have one."

Here's what George Peterson said: "Pavlik's chin is grade A china. Paul doesn't need anything special. He'll just step to him and knock him out. This will be one of Paul's easiest fights."

I disagree with this china chin crap and this is clearly under estimating an opponent. williams is more likely to go out and try to win on work rate althou the gameplan may not be clear thats the objective.
I really cant wait for this fight buh off course if im wrong i'll be paying for it on this forum and it will be well deserved

I think the whole "work rate" idea is exactly what Williams is banking on. It looks like Williams plans to try to overwhelm Pavlik with volume. There are at least three problems with that. The first is that every time we've seen KP against a volume puncher, KP throws more than the opponent. The second is that PW's connect rate is terrible. He rarely reaches 25% in a given round. And finally, when he does connect he won't get a response. If Miranda couldn't make KP back up, no way PWilly can.

Some folks are acting as if Paul is some sort of master boxer, but he's not. He is a fairly simple pressure fighter, and he is up against a bigger, stronger, tougher pressure fighter who has better fundamentals than he does.

Hopkins has a fight coming up himself, there's no way he's going to take time away from training to advise Kelly Pavlik. Kelly Pavlik is fine, he's going to be who he is, no matter what someone else tells him. The only thing left for Pavlik to do is train and get ready to fight. Stances, and styles don't matter ... these guys will come to fight and bring great excitement to the fans. I can't wait to see if Williams can expose yet another way to beat Pavlik ...

Honestly I don't think Bhop can help Kelly Pavlik cause KP's brain can't learn beyond boxings basic fundamentals!! Like Peterson said the basic 1-2 is what you learn when you walk in the Gym! Pavlik is a damn Rock'm Sock'm Robot! Its like he's taking remedial courses in boxing!

I'd love to see Pav back up to draw him in and get his confidence up and then WHAM. But, I see Pav doing little different. Go out, meet Pdub in the middle of the ring and unleash hell and see who blinks first. I'm sure you don't need a hint on who that will be do you? :huh

Those remedial boxing lessons must have worked out fairly well.

    Two national championships in 1997.
    Two national championships in 1998
Olympic trials in 1999 at only 17 years of age.
Number one contender at age 25.
Middleweight champion of the world at age 26.
One loss in 36 fights and that to an ATG light heavyweight.
    Current record, 35-1 with 31 KO's
Current standing at age 27, #1 middleweight in the world with WBC, WBO, and Ring titles.

Yep -- I'd say those remedial boxing lessons worked out just fine:yep

You guys talk as if Pavlik is some world class fighter! Reality is that he is fundamentaly sound when it comes to boxing 101 but beyond that he's clueless and it showed in the Hopkins fight! He said he was gonna have some tricks up his sleeve for Bhop and yet he looked like the same old flat footed walk foward fighter!! Pavlik has no versatility at all

come on man, i know you don't like pav but be rational about this. every pav poster your going back and forth w/ likes williams too and aint throwin him under the bus just b/c they don't think he will win.

you can distinguish between world class and atg, right?? the current champ in every weight class is world class, pav included.

I still expect Kelly to win via KO ..Paul has yet to be rocked ..Pavlik should provide enough fire power to test the lankier Williams .

Ex-****ing-zactly!! This won't be a "strategic boxing match." It's a dog fight. I like my Pit Bull/Doberman anology, and the smart money goes on the Pit bull.
