Do you think Hopkins regretted calling out Calzaghe after seeing the Kessler fight?

Let's see, the Kessler fight was in November.

The Hops-Calzaghe fight was officially announced a few weeks ago.

If he really "regretted it", why did he go through with the fight? He had 2 months to just not say another word and try and make another fight.

And, infact, didn't GBP enforce an injunction to stop Jones talking to Calzaghe so I think it's pretty safe to say Hopkins wanted the fight.

When was the contract finally got signed . . . only recently right? So what makes you say that he regreted that call out?

IF he had a change of mind . . . it's very easy to make a lot of bull**** excuses . . . no contracts could have been signed.

    So . . . NO!

By the way . . . the "NO" and the "he didn't change his opinion" option . . . implies the same thing . . . Bhops wants the fight.

Hopkins is NOT INTELLIGENT??!! Then how the hell did he go from where he came from to where he got to, and how did he crash into boxing's elite when he was already past his physical best, and how did he stay there ever since for about 6 years now and counting?

I dont think Hopkins is scared of anyone, and i honestly think HE thinks he can beat just about anyone even close to his size.... no matter HOW they look.

so no... i dont think he changed at all, maybe was suprised... but no change in confidence.

I agree... if he was stupid he would have ended up like most other fighters,

Hopkins was the face of the non elite so to speak as he was coming up.... and now he is arguably one of the most important names and faces in boxing, just as much as when hes in a suit as when he has gloves on.... i think thats a testament to his intelligance,

also, you cant be stupid... and be that good of a ring general imo.

At 43 there nothing Hopkins can do to hurt his legacy, he has everything to gain and nothing to lose .. It Calzaghe who has the pressure , if he wins he beat an old guy , if he loses then lost to an old guy and it will bring question about his previous opponent and just how skilled were they .

I agree with pit. Hopkins barely makes the Top 15 p4p in the world, and that on the back of his mental and moral qualities. If he loses to Calzaghe, but makes it a close, clean fight, outsmarting Calzaghe a lot of the time and boxing intelligently, imposing his style most of the time, he climbs into the Top 10...why should he regret that?
