Do you think it is time for Khan to hire a defense coach!

Ok so we all saw what happened last night......I have been saying for a while that Amir Khan should hire a trainer / coach that knows the importance of defense and how to teach it. (Roach clearly does not!)

For those who don't know before Khan decided to go to Roach he had meetings with the Mayweathers, obviously he decided to go in another direction.

I feel he is still young enough to make some adjustments to his fighting style and the most important adjust he NEEDS to make is a FREAKING defense....

I do NOT for the life of me understand why he fought like that, he clearly let the Garcia's get into his head with the trash talk.....He should have BOXED who told him to go toe to toe? :patsch

He MUST have known he had shaky whiskers (90% of ESB knew) and if so why in the world does he not fight with that in mind....he should not be taking ANY shots flush on the chin and should be working on that defense.

He needs help on so many levels if he wants to become a true elite champion.....but I feel defense is THE priority!

What do you think? Poll to be added.

His defence is terrible but I think he could avoid half of his problems if he learned to fight taller and use his jab more. Not necessarily learning more defence just not using as much offence, he jumps in wildly throwing 4 or 5 punch combinations when he could just throw 1's and 2's. He's fast enough to get away with this and comfortably outbox people for 12 rounds.

I think it would be pretty difficult for him to learn defence now, doesn't seem like he's learned anything for years.

Wlad's example showes that hiring a trainer who teaches better defense can bring wonders

maybe Khan should start working with Manny Steward

I agree with you he should fight taller...but I disagree about him not being able to learn defense he isnt that old. I doubt he can become a master but he can learn a few subtleties of defense....

Yup. Stewart could be a good option too!

and it doesnt have to be in america. brian lawrence is good- from london.-
    Jimmy tibbs from london.
believe it or not, even hatton! Apparently he empahasizes defense and PATIENCE with his fighters. he himself knew all the moves, but was too reckless as he admits. also he has trained with some top coaches including mayweather sr.

Khan is too late into his career to ever change. He's been the same fighter all his life, so don't expect a change.

Plus, he has a very low IQ.

He should have done this a long time ago. He doesn't necessarily have to get rid of Roach. He just has to bring in someone who's defensive-minded who can assist Roach.

It would be a good idea, as he sometimes get hit to easily. I think Garcia was smart last night to throw punches whenever Khan did so that he would catch him in the middle of Khan's flurries.

Let me tell you something, if he keeps training with roach who never works on his weaknesses, he's going to end up seriously damaged by the end of his career.

Kahn if he wants to get to the top, then he needs to find a new trainer who'll work on his all round game rather than focusing on speed and the one dimensional one two roll out gameplan that's always got him into trouble.

I agree the trainer doesn't need to be American....I feel even Nacho Beristain could be a good fit for him too.

He has got to start recognising his own faults if he wants to bounce back....now every fighter is going to try and crack that chin!

No, he just needs to stay behind the damn jab for 5-6 rounds before trying to stand in the pocket.
