No, however if he does try and fight Jones again in Cardiff he can just **** off. Hopefully he fights Dawson in Wales.

I don't think he'll retire...But the name fighters aren't really left for him to fight.

    RJJ...Done that.

Hopkins...Boring fight. People won't wanna watch a rematch. Not only that, but that first fight was on regular HBO (and had pretty low #s), and anyone who had the pleasure of watchign this won't be handing over $50 for the next broadcast.

Dawson...Not a name. At all. Not internationally or US.

    Pavlik...Hopkins ended this.

Abraham...If he beats pavlik and then another name.

It seems to me that joe would have to wait a year or so for the best fighters of the division to fight it out for the right to fight him. Any fight he'd make in just 4-6 months wouldn't be 2 big of a $ fight at all IMO.

He's dominated his division for years, beat everyone put infront of him and is a two weight champion, beating the best (according to Ring Magazine) in the divisions. He's a bit passed the level where he can be exposed. Not only that, who the hell will beat him? I can't really see anyone in his range that will beat him.

Michalczewski was allegedly getting ready to fight Ottke not so long ago, but the fight got cancelled. He's been inactive for a while, making it even more attractive. Another ATG to add to Joe's list :dead (or Ottke for that matter, he's probably fat too - so would fit into LHW straight away).

If that is too daring a plan, I wouldn't be at all surprised if Joe vs RJJ happened again. In a way Joe shot himself in the foot by dominating too clearly. Now, no one wants a rematch...

More seriously, I think the way to go would be to fight Dawson. Dawson clearly beat Tarver, whom Calzaghe was mentioning as one of the 'legends' he would like to fight (pre Dawson loss, that is). The fight is easy to sell. If done in Wales, the Millenium Stadium is going to be full. And after that there really is no one out there, period.

Contrary to what many people believe, I think Joe has balls and cares what people think. IMO that is why the fight with Kessler happened - even though the die hard Calzaghe fans were shouting he didn't need to do it, cos there was no money and Kessler was a nobody (funny how that changed once Kessler got beat and how similar arguments are now being used to discredit Dawson).

To his credit, I think Joe is contemplating this option (i.e. the only real challenge left) so I hope showtime or HBO provide the money. If he goes out defeating Dawson I will be totally sold. To be clear, I don't think he needs to do it, but if he retires now, and Dawson moves on to dominate LHW for years - which is not impossible - there will always be that shadow of a doubt over how good he really was. Something like RJJ - Michalczewski never getting made and being talked about years after... I think he realises that and I think that's what makes the risk - which is clearly high - more attractive.
