Not really. He hardly punched with the knuckles. It's better to be a high volume puncher, as opposed to a high volume slapper. He only had like two real KO's, the rest were ref stoppages, a good portion of which were the British stoppage variety. The Manfredo Jr. stoppage being a prime example.
aye he had iron chin at SMW, less so at LHW. shame kessler required surgery on that right hand that night or he might have kept his points lead over joe. One handed he had no chance.
No it would be very difficult unless you're in the top 0.00001% of talented people to ever grace the earth That fella Lomachenko does a decent job of emulating it, but if he pulled it off properly he'd still be undefeated
Well if Calzaghe had slapping style, it was too much for those who faced him to beat with their own 'perfect punches'.
esp. when you can turn to ref your best mate after getting knocked over and ask him to stop the fight cos ur hundred weak punches arent hurting the OP.
Our sport is littered with the ref being 'utilised' either directly or ref not interpreting rules properly, a win is a win as they say.
Pardon me if I;m wrong but slapping, used to be called lacing in the old days, is NOT a scoring blow. A punch must be deliverd with the knuckle part of the glove to score. At least thats how I interpret the marquis of Queensbury rules. The end of the Madfredo fight Calzaghe fought like a little schoolgirl Slap Slap Slap
its not littered thankfully with boxers who shout at the ref to stop the fight so they cant get koed.
Just to clear which fight are you specifically referring to, that Calzaghe shouted at ref to stop so he wouldn't get koed?
Rematching at least two opponents? I’m not sure if this is what the poster meant of if it was a typo...
