Do you think Lesnar will defeat Mir? If yes, does he have a chance to become HW champ

Widdow, who you got in the Nog/Sylvia fight. Please give me some reassurance that Nog will beat him :deal I wouldn't be able to take it if Sylvia beats Noguiera....

The Mir fight will tell us alot. I have no idea how Brock's stand up. I can only guess that it isn't stellar. If he is some sort of super athlete as has been said and he can pick a sub game then who knows. He might have decent stand up. Now way to know until fight night.

Thanks guys. I was reading up on Lesnar on the internet. At some point in 2006 he was training in Iowa in the Miletich school. Among those who he trained with was none other than former UFC HW champ Tim Sylvia. Sylvia was less than impressed. He claims that Lesnar hates to get hit and will only be middling successful in MMA. Should be interesting to see over the next few years.

Lesnar has the physical tools to be a champion, but he's got a lot to learn in a very short amount of time. He's a great wrestler, but he's got to make it work in the cage.

I honestly think the Mir fight is quite dangerous for Lesnar. I can see this going two very different ways: Either Lesnar squashes Mir with his strength and size, or Mir exposes Lesnar's vulnerabilities with an arm bar. Either way, I think this fight will happen fast and very likely end in the first round.

I do not believe Lesnar can defeat Mir at this point. Mir is too seasoned. Mir's submissions are world class. Dana White screwed the pooch in putting Lesnar in with Mir right away. Lesnar should have worked his way up through a few Cabbage's and Sylvia's before fighting a guy like Frank Mir.

I agree with tko4. This is like an old school match where one guy totally overwhelms the other guy and it's not even close. Hell, it might come down to whether Mir can end up in guard instead of side control after he gets taken down.

I'm going with Mir; too many really talented wrestlers have shown their ass in their debuts, especailly against good sub guys.

Sylvia's? As in Tim Sylvias? Lesnar has NO chance against the Maineiac. I'd bet on Tim in that fight if the odds were 100 to 1 in Tim's favor.

I think he meant that Lesnar's chances were better against guys with very little ground game.

........and Tim does get far too much flak here on ESB's MMA pages. Tim has good stand-up & great takedown defense. I guess they haven't seen the Sylvia Rodrigeuz beatdown for the title.

Tim has big power even if he is a bit limited & somewhat slow. He has an old bareknuckles style of boxing that many don't fully appreciate.

Lesnar has the raw physical tools to defeat anyone in MMA. The question is - does he have the needed training in submissions and stand up striking. My guess is NO. He is too green for Mir at this point. Look for round one submission.
