Do you think Lomachenko has greater raw talent than Floyd

I get that people are excited about Loma. A lot of boxing fans are also terrible at overplaying the "what have you done for me lately" card.

That's why, even though I think Loma's a special fighter and the best active one in the sport right now, I have no problem saying it's just too soon to go around saying he's better than Mayweather. The story's still being written. One novel was a masterpiece start to finish over 1000 pages. The other looks mighty promising. So far, so good. But it sure as hell ain't done yet.

Floyd was on top so long, I think people literally lost track of time.The reality is Floyd had 2 HOF careers- one at 130-135, and one from 140 on up. Let Loma flesh out 1 before we start arguing whether or not he's surpassed someone with 2

To put it in perspective, Loma's had about 3 full years on championship level. That same period of time for Floyd encompasses only his championship career at 130 from Genaro Hernandez to Jesus Chavez (the cutoff would end right BEFORE Castillo I!). There wasn't any TBE talk at that point, even though people knew he was special at 130. I believe Loma will continue to live up to the hype, but we've got to give him the time to either flesh out an ATG legacy or not first. We're at least 5 years away from there being a point to the Loma vs PBF conversation now.

 

That 2nd pro fight BS needs to stop. Look how many PRO STYLE tourneys he fought in prior to turning pro, that's better experience so he entered with the most experience i know of. LMMFAO, 2nd pro fight STFU

I don't know, I think you'd have to compare fmj @ 130,he threw a ton and was a ko puncher. It's funny, fmj seems to be compared only for his work done mid to late 30's in his FIFTH weight class against only peak versions of every and anyone. apples to oranges always with this crowd

 

So should we just forget about lomachenko's 400 amateur bouts and years of training he did to win 2 Olympic gold medals? That doesn't prove his Raw ability? The guy is 29 he's been boxing all his life. He is at his peak now.

 

So what happened against Salido?

 

Of course not. Problem is, I'm not good enough at figuring out how much weight to put on an ATG amateur record. So, I keep it apples to apples for now- pro vs pro. Some guys give amateur accomplishments zero importance. I think they're worth something. Others will probably think they're worth more.

If Loma keeps on winning, the amateur record would likely be something to push him over the edge, but there's a lot of work to be done before that becomes a differentiating factor for me.

Till then, all he has to do is keep winning, and I can't wait to see what's next for him. I'm hoping we get no less than 3 fights a year out of him while he's still prime.

Raw Talent? The guy is a two weight world champion and 29 years old. He isn't getting any better.
