I think he is. he out-toughed Hatton on the inside who's trade is mauling in close. He also absorbed quite a lot 'vs' Castillo and toughed it out with an injured hand. he also showed good toughness and composure vs Zab, which is an underrated Mayweather win imo- Zab was a unique challenge for mayweather, more than he was for the likes of Cotto or Clottey, in that he was faster and more physically talented. PBF toughed that one out and outsmarted and outfought Zab in the end :good
Mayweather, despite what people think, will whip your ass if you underestimate him. When I think back on the Hoya fight I am always astonished at the amazing defence Hoya showed that night. Sure, he lost, but his defence that night was amazing and there's a reason for it.
If he was really tough, he would not have retired yet. He is the first true champion i have heard say he has nothing more to prove.
I think Hatton bought into all the hype that Mayweather was a weasel, and paid for it with his 0, and effectively his career.
His career? What´s wrong losing to the p4p number 1, an atg, one weightclass above your best? Nah, he lost yeah but that has not much impact on his carreer.
Mayweather first off, whip Hattons ass, is 39-0 and won a medel at the olympics, and still has his health. He truly doesn't have anything more to prove. People just want him to lose so they can talk ****, because even if he beat all the top welterweights now, 3 years from now people would dog him if he didn't fight the top then. Floyd pretty much schooled everyones ass (unlike some who just slap easy overrated european challengers in his little town with the exception of one old man)who got into the ring with him and that alone is enough to prove legacy.
