Do you think modern cuban technicians would school Dempsey, Louis, Marciano etc?

Not according to Ali :nono He said Marciano was one of the greatest and would knock out Floyd Patterson and George Chuvalo in the first round on the same night. High praise from the greatest of all time :good

Because both of their big bodies were going against each other like wrestling.

Against some small heavyweight like Ali. Lewis or Vitali could rest and follow him with less effort.

    Thus no gassing.

It would look a bit like Haye vs Wlad. Did Wlad gass? No? Why?

Wlad's used his reach to stay on the outside and conserve energy. But a guy his size if forced to work will gas rather quickly. There's just no way around it. A 250 pound man no matter how well conditioned will gas out quickly if he's forced to work.

A jab and hold technique won't be effective against Ali because his footwork, timing and defense is too good. Wlad will have to do more than just jab and hold against Ali. This isn't Haye, Ali is a vastly superior fighter.

Wlad, Vitali or Lennox would't be forced to work against Ali. Just sparr with someone that weights about 0.85 of you. No problem.

Why didn't Lewis gas against Holyfield?

Holyfield with his vastly superior engine?

    - Because of size!

Yeah, as a kid a believed in Spider-man, Batman, Muhammad Ali and Rocky Marciano.

But I'm starting to see change in perspectives - Finally!!

I still like Batman and Ali but they simply can't overcome science and logic.

They never made Klitschko a posterboy like Ali. But he sure looks like "Captain CCCP" or something. Personal prererences seems to crush all kind of reasoning around these boards.

This. It's happened to Wlad several times. Vitali's size was useless against Bryd, who would get destroyed by Louis or Marciano. Also, a lot of the smaller guys in the heavyweight division today have no inside game. Puritty had an inside game and beat Wlad to the point that his coach ran in to save him. Over a decade later Wlad still has the same weaknesses.

Marciano was very good at getting in on the inside and had a great inside game. Joe Louis was also good at closing the distance on big men. As much as I like Louis Ortiz he wouldn't walk over Marciano or Louis like he did Jennings, who is very athletic, but had no inside game or boxing IQ to speak of and paid for it.

But he's not faster.. it's the same thing with the footwork statement. A lot of past fighters switched from orthodox to southpaw while they threw a straight right hand and right hook, then they would throw a straight left from the southpaw position and switch back to orthodox(shifting). That's beautiful footwork, name 10 modern fighters who can do that, and I'll name 50 past fighters.

Everyone needs to understand that Rocky and Joe Louis are two of the greatest punchers in history. GGG should be a reminder of what that entails.

Joe Louis held the title for 12 years. A record that might not get broken till 2100.

where do these blind statements stem from? How is boxing "more precise" now? That doesn't even make sense
