do you think Nigel benn used steroid's against McClellan?

I don't think he was on them for the fight itself, but that interview suggests he probably was at some point. Whether that was in the build up to this or another fight I don't know, but he hung around with dodgy people...

I wouldn't be suprised if Gman was also on something either.

The blood on the boot story is absolute bollocks though...

 

There's a bit in The Fight of Their Lives, where Stan Johnson says they tested blood off McClellan's boot and it had steroids in it. Given the fact only he made the claim 15 years later and he is an incompitant mess, would suggest his claim is nonsense. When they ask Benn about it, he admits to taking recreational drugs throughout his career, including ecstasy and weed, but swears he never took Roids. It's hard to say, but I don't think he did.

It's possible of course but there is nowhere near enough evidence to think he was imo.

 

Didnt he end up in hospital after the fight with a broken eye socket, nose and pissing blood through kidney shots? On a side note the fight should have been stopped in the first round when g-man knocked him out the ring.

Of interest, McClellan was badly Ko,d, in sparring a month before the Fight by Montell Griffin. Probably had something to do with His condition, McClellans that is, I was told it was a bad one.

 

It's an old classic move to feint before a drug test, Briggs did it with the pee cup in his hand

Benn is my all time favourite boxer, it was brutal and tragic. I think the fight was a combination of benn seeking paul McKennas help before the fight, benn was so focused mentally and macellan wasn't. He was blinking heavily from round 3 onwards something was amiss, we will never know but I would be very surprised as all boxers face a drug test after a fight, what would of been the point of winning only to be caught cheating.

 

I remember when i was younger that one of my friends was in Lanzarote when Nigel Benn was training for a fight and he was devastated to see Nigel Benn running on the beach, stopping at one of his mates and sniffing something then carrying on running. My guess would have been Cocaine?

I can only take his word on what he saw but he was devastated and went from being Nigel Benn's biggest fan to never watching another one of his fights.
