if Clottey just opened up more, during the fight? Maybe a TKO in the making? Or out of pure exhaustion from those 100 punches per round?

Or Clottey, even in a prolonged exchanged with Pacquiao, would have survived it?

I know this is an overkill, making a thread (once more) about Pac-Clottey, but just want to see everyone's opinion and view on this topic.:good

I thought Clottey was close to being knocked down towards the end of the 11th if I recall but would have to watch a replay.

I think Manny was actually quite beat up considering how few punches Clottey threw, but then his exhaustion having thrown 1200 punches may have given me that impression.

I would be very curious to have known what would have happened if it was a 15 round fight. Would the punishment Clottey absorbed break him down completely or does Manny become a target to the bigger man after punching himself out??

if Clottey opened up the way Cotto and others did, I have no doubt he'd get hurt. I dunno about a KO but there's a reason he kept his guard up the whole time.

I need to see it again (and will after work) but I was of the same opinion - that Clottey was close to being knocked down in the 11th. Although at the same time those punches that Clottey was landing looked heavy as hell. No reason we can't think Manny might have been knocked down too. I don't trust a thing that Clottey says so I can't be sure if the body shots wore him down or if he had a lot left. I'm not exactly sure why he would say that he was fine, after the fight, that Manny couldn't hurt him. Because if anything that makes me more disgusted with his performance since he was apparently in no real danger and still couldn't sack up and fight.

I think he is lying on that.

Obviously, he felt Pacquaio's power to make him keep that shell almost forever.

Pac hurt Clottey in the 11th. He would have been koed if not for his very good crab defense. NO doubt.

You could tell by like the 3rd or 4th round that the body shots were getting to him.

I'm amazed that anyone can take that sustained a body attack and not crumble though. The guard remained high and he was still able to attack effectively in the 12th.

I think it says two things. 1 Clottey is a seriously tough seriously fit dude. 2 Manny isn't a hugely powerful puncher , he hurts people because of the number of punches and when fighters dont see it coming but power alone isn't beyond most others in the division.

Well, Clottey has never been obviously hurt by anybody. Are we saying that Margarito is also not a hard puncher?

Does Clottey say "my legs are gone" after the 11 the round? His trainers are saying "breathe, one more round." Can't quite make out what else was said.

Clottey fought Cotto and then PAC. After seeing what PAC's performance against Cotto, he knows where he stands relative to PAC. He may be right in saying that he was not hurt, but he knows that if he opened up himself he could get caught with a solid left and potentially be knocked down. If he can really take PAC's punches, then why the high guard. We know that he is a big tough welter but he wouldn't take the chance of a lifetime.

clottey is one tough cookie....but if he did open up...i think instead of 240+ landed shots by pac...it might double to 500+......and one of them will surely knock his brains out...
