Rating Greb as the MW GOAT and Dempsey as the HW GOAT, is obviously subjective and open to interpretation and opinion.

That isn't the same thing as saying that today's SMW and MW divisions aren't as strong as what they were in the 90's.

Nobody who watched that era of fighters would argue otherwise.

People tend to rate the fighters from the era they grew up in or started watching boxing in, the strongest.

In general, I don't comment on these hypothetical, between generations, boxing matchups.

    It's all fantasy stuff.

Toneys stay busy opposition was good enough to be major players in today's scene.

    Some people do do that.

Some people can show bias and not be objective.

    Some people are nostalgic.

That’s not what’s happening here though.

You won’t find any knowledgeable fan that would claim that today’s MW and SMW divisions are stronger than what they were in the 90’s.

Boxing ebbs and flows, and has done for years now.

Yeah. But the thread was about the best, head to head, not about the depth of the division.

    That’s great.

It’s also great if you’re a genuine fan.

You’ll have to forgive people like me for being skeptical at first.

There’s a lot of trolls on here.

    Welcome to the forum.

How can you rate Canelo over GGG when Golovkin has 2 wins over Canelo while being 2.5 years past his prime?

I'm ****ing sorry but if Saunders was able to win rounds off Canelo easily, imagine what RJJ would do... pointless thread.

Because I consider GGG to have been in his prime, scored them 1 and 1. Canelo went on to do greater things by beating Kovalev and Smith, and is lineal at 168 and most like to become undisputed champ as well. GGG hasn't done that at any weight class.

If we look at how they would have matched up stylistically on a H2H basis, Canelo wouldn’t have been favoured over any of them, and especially against Roy Jones. Because stylistically, that would have been a terrible match up for him.

Roy Jones Jr, Hopkins, and Toney fought guys who are still fighting to this day. Which means Jones Jr, Hopkins, and Toney are fighters from this era. In any case Jones Jr and Toney would dominate this era. Hopkins would bore this era like he did when he did fight.

    Is this a joke?
Toney and Hopkins are technically superb and superior to anyone in this generation.
And prime RJJ is untouchable at 168.
