Do you think Roberto Duran vs Patrick Goossen was fixed?

I've never been convinced by that fight, but I also don't know much about Goossen and have absolutely zero proof. But it just looked to me like Patrick did not want to hit Duran and could have done so. Anyone seen it and got any strong feelings about it either way?

I know that it's not helpful to accuse people of this kind of thing but if you can't ask on here where can you ask.

At a glance, it seems Goosen does a similar thing against Camacho where he paws the jab rather than whipping it more often than not. He does throw his right hand with some authority though, and this version of Camacho looks much better and quicker than the abysmal version of Duran that he fought. I wouldn't say it's outlandish though, nobody likes to go out on an L, especially when they're closing in on 50. As well though, Goosen seems to have mainly campaigned at JMW and MW yet was brought up to SMW for his fight w/ Duran, which might explain why he was so tentative, I guess. It does kinda look like Goosen was trying not to win against Duran though admittedly.

Sweet mother of God Duran retired in 2001? From 68 - 2001 he saw it all, also I have no idea about your question, it does look like he’s taking it easy on old man Duran - maybe it’s just respect? It’s wild to think he fought during the time of Napoles, Monzon, Griffith and Ali finishing in the era of Mayweather, RJJ, Toney, De La Hoya, and Lennox… incredible, what it must be like to learn from the people who saw Benny Leonard who I believe worked with Benny Leonard and to see boxing today.

Goosen was probably intimidated … figured he had an old man and an easy touch but then two months before this fight Roberto discovered the fountain of youth to avenge his defeat at the hands of Pat Lawlor … the same Pat Lawlor who had beaten not only Roberto but Wilfred Benitez (back to back no less) AND who had taken Goosen to within a hair of his first defeat when the Goose escaped with a split decision.

Nothing to do with the topic but I missed my opportunity to meet Pat Lawlor. He used to very occasionally come and drink at this awful dive two doors down from a deli I worked at in high school and college. He came in once and I didn't recognize him, despite the fact that he was on Tuesday Night Fights not long before.

Judging by grey's comment,I think he may have underestimated Duran here,or it could perhaps be a fix too.

He's a journeyman,a win from a faded legend would give some shine in his resume, but journeymans are paid sometimes to not get too hard,so...
