Do you think "running" should be disqualifiable?

No but the ring sizes ought to be scaled down to evoke more action. Fighters who use a lot of movement, who are taught and cultured in their training to be movers, would thus have to be recultured or rather have an adaptive approach to boxing, and the new wave of up and comers and the future of boxing in general would be effectively changed for the better, imo.

This, people tend to think they're scared. But this is how they are taught from a very young age. Sure, they LOOK scared but they're taught to maintain distance to avoid being hit.

Tapping and running shouldn't be the way to do it, it's killing the sport.

Again, people are making this into a black and white issue, you think you're getting brownie points for it pretending that you're some sort boxing aficianado here?

Why do people assume whne I say running I immediately mean all boxing (as in "boxing" the guy), I clearly stated numerous times in the thread that excessive running and unwillingness to engage with your opponent is what needs to be toned down. Many guys box without running.

I actually can't see how people think this is a GOOD thing but if you think so, well state why you like this instead of going off the tangents about "boxing".

This is essentially what many in the sport do except they learned to run around in a more confined space.

In reference to the youtube vid...

Looked like the guy doesn't feel confident fighting on the inside against the thicker guy, and rightfully so lol

So he back peddled and tried to use his length to his advantage, which is fine. But here's where it's not fine, when he turned his back on his opponent and completely walked/ran away. Moving around the ring, to an extent, is not running. But turning your back to your opponent is inexcusable in my book.

In scholastic wrestling there is stalling, if you back up or refuse to work for a better position you get a warning, then a point then two points then dq.

In basketball there is a shot clock in the NFL there is a play clock

Fighters should be warned about not engaging by the ref.

You are looking to handicap the sport to make it easier for one type of fighter over another. I'm no fan of runners, but I can be objective about it. Your solution? Change the rules, change the ring to an adjustable ring, etc. Might as well just tie the guys together, a la knife fighting. Anything but having the men in the ring make the necessary adjustment.

I asked for examples of fighters who strictly ran and won fights. Your examples were woeful(Lara?, Thurman?) A youtube video of a street fight?

Fighters ARE penalized for excessive running......by losing fights.

You want to save the sport, fix the business and political ends of it. That is what is killing the sport.

Brownie points for shooting down your ridiculous ideas to "save" the sport? Sorry I hurt your feelings, bub. Maybe if your ideas made sense, instead of proposing solutions that create more problems than they'd fix, you'd get more of the validation you seem to crave.

Except the guy flat out ran away, lol. Big difference than being in a boxing ring, even a large one.

Again, when was the last time a guy literally turned tail and ran in a fight and won? If you have decent examples, it's worth a look.

I think you're looking to over-legislate a situation that is reasonably handled by the dudes in the ring.

Turning your back already is. Not throwing back gets you TKO'd. Not sure what else there is? Wlad threw little but not little enough to get DQ'd. He also didn't "run".

Then again, Wlad did turn his back occasionally to keep Fury from pounding him.

All those points you're agreeing to have absolutely nothing to do with boxing, chap.

He also got spun by Fury, and was turning his head in clinches as a lot of fighters do. If he had done it during the action, he'd have deserved a DQ.
