    @Dorrian_Grey @Mastrangelo @Macedoine62 @George Crowcroft
Tbh,he was an enigma, full action, big southpaw fighter that's entire strategy is duck, upper, hook repeat and win the exchange,I don't know where I could see that 3x plus uppercut combo he liked to do in any other fighter except Bob Foster/Sandy Saddler.

Previously,he has beaten quite a good amount of respected Indonesian boxers that I knew of,such as:
    Yani Malhendo
    Muhammad Alfaridzi
    Ricky Matulessy
    Afrizal Cotto
    Hendrik Barongsay
    Rivo Rengkung
    Simson Butar Butar

If you're a clueless Indonesian, you might thought that Somsak beatijg those names was impressive, right?

Then you should see his record vs world level opponents.

He was 1-3 vs them, with the fighters as listed below:
    Ratanachai Sor Vorapin(L)
    Mahyar Monshipour(W)
    Celestino Caballero (L)
    Poonsawat Kratingdaenggym(L)

His run to the title was kind of unexpected, because in 2005,he wasn't even ring ranked and out of nowhere in 2006,he got a title shot from Mahyar and produced an amazing fight, and with that impressive performance, what does he do next?

Lost in 3 round vs Celestino Caballero, then he would go into his usual schedule of fighting average dudes until he met Poonsawat in a WBA bantamweight title eliminator,he would get eliminated in round 11 and we never hear much about Somsak ever since.

I always wondered what caused his downfall, was it over partying or was he just lucky vs Mahyar? I don't know, but if there's anything else I had to say,he was an underachiever and overachiever at best, don't really has the best skills in the world level but had great talent.

    Thoughts?

I certainly don't think He was lucky vs Monshipour. You don't give that kind of effort by luck. He had a certain set of qualities, which allowed him to handle the pressure from Mahyar better than most. He was a big Super Bantamweight, with mental and physical strength, some power - and a southpaw stance as well. He was limited from technical stand-point, but He could give some guys trouble.
Monshipour had the ability to enforce his style and wear guys down very quickly. Usually after 4 rounds it was more of a matter of survival for his opponents and He was mostly defending his title against fighter more accomplished than Somsak. It's to Thai's credit that He was able to go punch for punch with Mahyar all the way to the end and come out on top.

My analysis of his career is limited to bouts contested at SBW, where he went 40-1, including 1-1 in world title fights.

Excellent win over Monshipiour, but so far as I can tell he never beat another ranked contender at SBW and obviously his loss to Caballero was fairly conclusive.

Yeah, he's perhaps not that lucky vs Mahyar,in fact I thought Mahyar's guard worked quite well until Somsak pierced him with that rapid rattling uppercut.
