I think it depends on their actual style. People are often wrong when they treat being southpaw as if it's a style, it's a stance.

A Whitaker was a stylistic nightmare for almost everybody.

The only advantage they have is being a minority and thus the likelyhood of their opponent having relevant experience to deal with the stance is not high.

At top level, however.. I think styles alone are more of a factor than your stance, unless you're Paul Williams and straight up can't deal with southpaws

best part is he's a lefty himself. tall paul doesn't have an understanding of his own stance based on how his performances against southpaws and his actual style:yep

Southpaw pitchers have a legitimate advantage in baseball.

This is the sort of thing I'd go with, they are less common so they may confuse opponents easier. They are used to facing right handers themselves so probably have the advantage of being more familiar with things, their shots come from unusual angles and stuff.

Lefties are simply more used to fighting orthodox fighters than orthodox fighters are used to fighting lefties. This can sometimes throw off orthodox fighters, but it really depends on the individuals.

Look at Whitaker he was a master at fighting on the backfoot and therefore maintained the unorthodox angles of his stance. He would control the distance by popping em with his southpaw jab, the majority of southpaws don't have good jabs and focus on getting that left hand working instead. Orthies have been trained since kids to watch out for the southpaw's left by circling to the left. A great southpaw jab is a very unusual thing to deal with.

Not only could he use his rare jab to keep enough distance for maximizing the angles of his stance, he was also great at fighting on the inside. Want to negate a southpaws angles? Force them into closer distances. Whitaker made sure to have this area covered too.

Whitaker was how a southpaw should fight.

Other southpaws with stylistic advantages are Edwin V and Ortiz. The majority of fighters don't know how to defend against great southpaw right hooks. Their hooks is what's responsible for making them a knockout artist or knockdown artist. Ortiz put Rene on his AZZ like 3 times with that hook

That was due to Rene being more wide open than a white housewife at a mandingo party.

im a southpaw and you can have an advantage until the orthodox fighter figures out the right hand tends to work everytime
also southpaws vs southpaws is quite possibly the most frustrating sparring sessions iv ever had

yeah it depends on the fighters, Kostya Tzsyu and Ricardo Lopez has knocked out all the southpaw they have faced so it's probably not an issue for them.
