Yet when he was champ he wouldn't defend against his mandatory because he knew even if his mum was the ref and the fight was in his bedroom he would still have received a very public beatdown...

I like how you think. Except HBO would prefer Kirland for April and putting GGG as the co-main event with Martinez/Cotto may not work money wise. Plus it would be a fast turn around even by GGG standards.

One thing is certain, Sturm will have no part in any scenario involving GGG.

He ducked him when his best win was a guy Latimore had beaten.......why would he suddenly grow the balls to fight him now that he's in a position to dictate terms and earn millions in Germany.:huh:huh:huh

Golovkin will beat him badly! Can't see Sturm going anywhere near him. Fight in Germany against second tier Euro opposition, with the occasional, carefully selected US or Latin American fighter thrown in to keep credibility with the local crowd...

Hmm yeah the schedule would be a bit tight. Only 9 weeks if he fought April 5, and June 7. That is a good point.

I think the money would work though, GGG would help sell PPVs. Fans want stacked cards for their $65 these days, and paying Golovkin 2m and his opponent 1m would still be high pay and break even around 50k additional buys.

As for Kirkland.. honestly I think they would be better off to pair Kirkland with Murray in Spring. It would be an exciting fight in of itself. If Murray beat Kirkland, US fans would know who he was going into GGG fight. If Kirkland won, he would be a legit MW and GGG fight much more interesting.

Oh well, I can dream cant I? I just hope they dont do a "Top Rank" undercard for Cotto fight then wonder why buys were lower than expected.

Sturm never fights outside of Germany. Besides, he wants no part of GGG

You do know Golovkin lives in Germany and had all his early fights there? There's no reason for this fight to happen anywhere other than Germany. I think if Sturm can remain unbeaten through 2014 he'll take a retirement fight against GGG assuming it'll be his biggest career payday.

I don't like the way German TV ignores the fact Sturm is a ducker.
However you are wrong about the above statement. Sturm travelled to the USA where he beat De La Hoya but was robbed by the judges.
Corrption in boxing is worldwide. Unfortunately.:deal

This^^ ...although Golovkin would have to accept something like 20-25% of the total revenues, something like that. :conf

the only competitive fights i can see for triple G at 160lbs & below are possibly martinez, sturm & lara, at their best. even then they'll all be on the run after they get touched. if i were abel i'd pass out thousands of flyers in germany with kolovkin gripping sturm's neck (which has the body of a chicken). then go after quillin. by that time maybe martinez will be ready to fight him.
