Given that Froch went life and death twice with what is considered a shopworn and slowing Kessler? It was only a war because Carl's defence is his face. Nothing has changed with Froch, Bute was just fragile at the highest level and Mack was there for a payday. Froch's jab was beautiful for 3 rounds but stopped boxing and went back to gunslinging. The amount of times he fell in and got caught is a worry if Ward fights him again. It's all very well being a "warrior" but McCracken clearly wanted that jab to be working all night, not just for the first three and then slug it out for the rest of the fight.
I think this is just a case of styles make fights more than anything. I'm sure Froch respects Calzaghe regardless, but I'd like to think that the fights put it into perspective for Froch, considering Calzaghe beat a prime Kessler.
Froch has great respect for Calzaghe's fighting ability. In fact, even Calzaghe's biggest detractors surely can't question the mans ability? He truly was an exceptional talent. What they can question - rightly, IMO - is his willingness to test himself against the best and take risks. He did so late in his career. Hopkins, Kessler and even Lacy were massive risks at the time but he wasted almost a decade fighting awful opposition. People mention ***** as the reason why and maybe that's not far wrong, but do you seriously think Froch would have wasted 8 years fighting nobodies? He'd have looked for a way out and he'd have found it.
Styles make fights, both have respect for each other. Joe did fight the better version of Kessler, but Froch has obviously faced more live/peak opponents overall than Joe did.
If he doesn't he should now I love Froch and went to his fight Saturday but Joe C would rip froch a new arse hole! No doubt prime Joe C would beat Froch on a one sided boxing lesson..
I think Froch has always had perhaps begrudging respect for Calzaghe's achievements, on the Ringside they were both on Froch admitted that if it went to points Calzaghe would win but that he wouldn't let it get that far. It was essentially admission that JC was the superior boxer but Froch obviously thought he was the better fighter! I'm not sure he was to be honest as Calzaghe could still have a tear up and win at the best of times.
