Interesting question. Generally, no. If anything, he’s underrated by the boxing public. However, the reaction on this forum, to me, has gone too far in the opposite direction. I cannot justifiably put him down as #1 P4P. Many other champions have proven more against stiffer competition. Also, to address an earlier post, comparisons to Mayweather’s early career is completely irrelevant. It shows Inoue’s high ceiling, but no one was proclaiming Floyd top dog when he was two-weight world champion. Let’s have a bit of perspective please.
Hard to say. I think we all want to see him tested, and by tested, I mean have an opponent good enough to push him to his limits. But such an opponent doesn't exist right now. Nery is the only fighter who is considered a threat to him, but even Nery can get knocked out in a few rounds. When that happens, then what? I don't see him getting tested until he moves up even higher in weight, like 122 & 126. If anything, that confirms his P4P pedigree.
