The way they are b/c other sports have taken away prime candidates & left us w/ a pool of decent, but no great, HWs? Or do you think the general level of the division has taken away any need for most fighters to try to fight at their A-game? Or is this the way it's always been, only this time we don't have an American HW to root for?
Just like in all sports, athletes are getting, stronger, faster, and bigger. The HW picture is different because the Iron Curtain is down and new talent has entered the scene. Of course, there are less Americans, and now the Americans keep saying how poor the division is now... total nonsense.
That has pretty much hit the nail on the head, with one or two era exceptions the Heavies as a whole have always sucked, compared to some other divisions.
I believe that the HW division isn't as untalented as people make it out to be..it's the fact that the best DON'T FIGHT EACH OTHER consistently.
