Replay showed it to be a British stoppage, with no punches landing to the head in the finishing sequence. I'd have gave Wlad the benefit of the doubt. He was trying to defend himself intelligently. I'd have gave him a bit longer. At least letting a couple more solid shots land. I hate when Refs stop it when nothing lands. Stop it at the knockdown. Don't stop it after the guy shows heart and guts to beat the count, and the guy actually avoids the head shots, only to have it stopped anyway.

Nope. 3rd knock down was coming and he would have been defenceless when those final blows landed. Pre-emptive stoppage to perhaps save Wlad's career. If he wanted to continue he's experienced enough to know to fight back when in that position, he never did that and fled for his life. Would you rather have the fight stopped with Wald smashing out of the ring and hitting the floor like Hopkins/Haye?

Nothing landed in that flurry but come on, Wlad was gone. Stoppage was fine.

I know the last few punches didn't land, but I think Wlad was finished and could have been badly hurt. I'm usually the first to complain about a quick stoppage but I think Wlad had given all he had to give and a couple more seconds he could have been really hurt. I can live with it

Yes it was, saved Wlad from a legit KO.
This is boxing, not beach volleyball, let the fight unfold itself and end.

Seriously I'm not sure Wlad would agree with that lol,he looked like he'd had enough,as my grandad used to say "I'll be glad when I've had enough"lol
Just like in the Whyte fight I was impressed with AJs second wind as he looked flat out gone by round six, must be a ploy as he looked fresh as a daisy in ten n eleven, when it came I thought the stoppage was pretty brutal.

Yeah but after being knocked down twice and stuck on the ropes taking shots, either the storm didn't look like it was abating or he couldn't weather it,fair stoppage I thought.

The referee made a decision, that decision was not a bad one, if you think it was premature that's your opinion.

The Klitschkos are a wise team, if they thought it was a premature stoppage you would have been told so in post fight interview, WK stated "The best man won" i think WK is in better position to give a viewpoint than any keyboard warriors.

"Wlad wasn't punching". People keep saying this. It's irrelevant. That only matters if the hurt fighter is getting hit and not responding, then you gotta stop it. If the hurt fighter is punching back, refs don't stop it.

In Wlad's case, nothing landed in the final flurry, so what does it matter if he's not punching back? He's just trying to survive, and that's fine. Why does the ref let him up after 2 KDs and then stops it when he's not getting hit? Ref got scared and stopped it.
