Do you think MMA fighters benifit from competing outside of mma(ADDC, K-1, Boxing, shoot boxing, ect) examples are: fedors accomplishments in sambo, alistair's victories in K-1, werdum winning the ADDC open weight competition in 2009 ect... Do you think victories outside the sport of MMA enhance a fighters MMA standings or legacy?
in MMA the sport, no. in MA, yes. MMA is a jack of all trades trying to specialise in all of them but mma hasn't quite evolved that far yet. all the other sports are them trying to specialise. currently, it will make them more threatening i.e. overeem is a k1 striker but that makes him revered, similarly Fedor in Sambo and Werdum in BJJ.
