its seems that compubox counts every time your gloves touch a warm spot (meaning you opponents body) but what if you barely tap your opponent? that's more boring than fencing. this style is making the UFC a whole lot more appealing. They actually used mayweather's performance to promote the Lidell-Jackson fight. It worked! Mayweather is supposed to be the best yet his performance overshadows all the fighters out there who give it all in the ring. Jackson comes out looking like an indestructable warrior while mayweather looks, well, gay.

Even if it does, his output remains pathetic (~38 punches/round) for a fighter in his weight category.

All I know is that he got a ton of credit for punches which landed on Oscars gloves in his last fight. If you listed to Bob Sheridan´s broadcast he repeatedly says it. Around the 6th round they look at the numbers of landed punches and he is in disbelief, and clearly mentions that Floyd was getting credit for punches on the gloves.

Exactly and during the HBO telecast of the fight, Merchant was talking about how Mayweather was not getting through with any of his shots cleanley from round 2 on, Stewart also jumped in regarding the same issue and agreed with Merchant from round 6-10, both guys were talking about how Floyds shots were not landing cleanly for a total of 8 rounds.
So do I trust compu box? **** no! Compu Box is a couple of guys pressing a ****ing Button do you trust a couple of guys ring side who had plenty of drinks before the main event to get it right? if you do you may as well offer them a set of keys and let them race up and down your street after those drinks while your kids play in the front yard.

i see you guys point...this also can be said with ODH in that fight SO....even if we take away the less effective shots......that makes ODH percentage even WORSE.....this compubox thing has been a problem throughout boxing...dont single one boxer out for this....thats not fair.

Look, I know that you think Floyd decisively won the fight. But you cant honestly say that he wasnt getting credit for punches that were landing on gloves (in this particular fight at least).

Dont even bother, seriously, its a waste of time, they are so far down on his dick they dont care about Boxing they only care about their fighter, they dont care about the sport itself.
Most of the Floyd fans, are seriously GAY!! I mean that, and they need to come to terms with their wanting to suck a dick.

You are becoming quite funny, I have to give it to you:good

"Oscar "landed" on PBF in the single digits, and you could count those on one hand, and have enough fingers left over to do a puppet show":rofl :rofl :rofl

Compubox is a bull**** system anyways, and it can work this way with many fighters.

Seems to me that anyone who fights Winky will get credit for punches that dont land. If you use a high guard, like a Winky, Quartay, Clottey, or Ward, your going to be penalized by the compubox system which is predicated by people in the audience with bad angles, reacting to the oohs and ahhs of the fans and counting what they think are landed punches.

I think Floyd doesnt in general get credit for unlanded punches, but in this fight, with Oscar being the taller, more stationary fighter, using a fairly high guard, and with Floyds speed, he was getting credit for punches on the gloves.

Thats as honest as an assessment as I can give.

I'll admit at first i though that mayweather won off clean shots. its easy to be fooled. A lot of shots hit the gloves, other shots could have given oscar a buzz cut, and other shots could have shaved oscar 5 o clock shadow off. This does not even include the "punches" or range finders where Mayweather barely tapped Oscar's forehead. Both fighters have great hand speed but if a physcian had a look at both fighter after the fight it would not be hard to tell who took the most punishment. that being said I did see Floyd land clean shots on oscar, there's no doubt about it. but those were few and far in between until the 11th. Floyd did great in the 11th when he ran and threw shots at a tiring oscar.

note: hbo was mentioning that the judges may give rounds to oscar because of the audiences reaction to oscar's flurries. instead it was the judges (not including kazmareck) who were dazzled by floyd's speed and the poetry in motion/theatrics he exhibits while throwing punches even if they didn't really land.
