I'd rather see Golovkin/Saunders at Wembley in June-July. But the fight will happen regardless of the bellyaching from me or me or anyone else in the boxing community... There's just too much money involved and the rules don't apply to a-side cashcows like Clenelo.
Most fans are more upset by not getting to see a fight than they are by PED users or other forms of cheating. I don't buy the tainted meat excuse at all but I don't honestly think that there aren't a ton of other fighters (and athletes in general) out there taking PEDs and beating the tests. People would be more upset by not seeing the fight than they are by Canelo using. Just like when Corrales-Castillo 3 got cancelled. People were so mad that they didn't get to see the fight, what Castillo and his team did in the rematch was far worse, when one of his cornermen tried to put his foot under the scale to help him make weight. That was far worse than the cancelled 3rd fight, as Castillo just outgrew the division and couldn't make 135 anymore. But people were more mad that they didn't get to see a fight.
Hell no, I don’t! I already have my flight, rental car, and Airbnb booked. The Box Fan Expo is that weekend and Vegas is gonna be lit for Cinco de Mayo! The show must go on!
Of course not! It's a great fight between two of the sports top fighters, and a rematch that NEEDS to happen. What sane boxing fan wouldn't want to see this fight?
I clicked no its fine to continue. Not cuz it gives Canelo enough time to run clean he has been a cheat for years and was a cheat in the last GGG fight so he isnt actually gaining any advantages as to what he had in the 1st. But i would have no complaints if he pulled out and would be equally happy, no, nearly equally happy to see him come to the UK and fight Saunders.
I sincerely hope I never see any of you guys, voting that the fight go ahead, ever complain about any fighter cheating. To do so would make you a raging HYPOCRITE
In terms of the reputation of the sport Canelo should be banned for at least a year, ideally 2 years. But that won't happen. Too much money on the table for this fight not to go ahead. I doubt even Golovkin wants it cancelled, he wants the big payday and probably still thinks he can beat a roided Canelo. A postponement wouldn't benefit GGG. He isn't getting any younger and if one failed test isn't going to stop the fight why would a 2nd? Why would Canelo even stop doping knowing nothing he does will prevent the fight happening or see him get banned.
I don't see why the fight can't be pushed for September. Surely GGG and his camp want an even playing field. How much did GGG earn in his last fight, 15 million? Surely he's not desperate for money.
A 4 month postponement is not more ideal than fighting a "supposedly" juiced Canelo? Really, 4 months?
