No, the fight should still go on. As punishment Clenelo should be forced to test 4x more than usual including the wee hours of the morning before the fight.

I'm not trying to be rude, but this is not as simple as you make it seem.

1) Athletes have sophisticated ways of doping now. The fact that a small amount showed up does not mean he wasn't abusing the **** out of it before. It just so happened to show a small amount when he was tested.
2) What type of message does this send? Slap on the wrist if you test positive once? That basically gives fighters a free pass to do it once.
3) This PED is shown to help with stamina and weight loss, Canelo has stamina issues and is a big weight cutter. I don't really find that to be some coincidence.

 

Well, if they're unable to prove that it was meat contamination then he should be banned and the fight cancelled, to my eyes. GGG can fight Saunders instead, Canelo can come back after and get right back in the mix.

No, that is not rude. I see your point. I am just thinking we need big fights, and if he is clear of it, that would seem to be evidence it would not affect his performance at all. i would think rather the opposite effect. I am not a physiologist, but usually with the human body, if there is an over effect, then later there is an under effect to compensate for the chemical not being in the body. We need the big fight in boxing. It is a good fight to have for the sport. I am not saying I support enhancers or cheating, but if he is clean I figure, why not let them fight. But I do see your point.

 

I think the fight should be cancelled and Canelo should get a ban. I say this completely unbiased as I am a fan of both fighters. Wether he is guilty or not that well never know but that's besides the point. **ANY** fighter who tests positive needs to face a penalty because it does nothing but hurt the sport if all you get is a slap on the wrist or in this case nothing at all. Its a shame that it happened for this fight as everybody is looking forward for the fight but IMO it should definitely be cancelled and Canelo should get at least a 1 year ban and the same for any other fighter who tests positive for whatever reason. Any substance at all. That being said the fight will go on.. Period.. Too much money and this controversy believe it or not will sell the fight even more.. I personally think it should be canceled but GGG doesnt wanna f**k his money up and neither does Canelo plus GGG aint getting any younger so.. In a perfect world money aside Id defintely be interested in seeing GGG- Saunders and later on Canelo-Saunders as I dont know if ggg will still be fighting one or two more years but if he is then maybe they can fight some other time after Canelo has fullfilled his ban or whatever penalty but by then GGG will be even older..
