Would you like to see these two fighters rematch in 2009? The first fight was contoversial. Dawson won by four points I believe on all three cards, but the Showtime audience had Johnson winning, 80% of them did. Johnson has Tarver next, but after that fight, and after Glen's fight vs Daniel Judah, should these two fight, or at some point this year at least? Johnson is 40 years old but still at or near the top of the division. But at the very end of his career. The audience booed Dawson live on Showtime in two different rounds as well as after the fight was over, and they cheered Johnson.

Did Dawson deserve the win? Maybe so. Maybe not. I had four rounds each I thought each man won clearly, and four rounds that were close, but you can make a case that Dawson won all four of those rounds or that Johnson did, as announcers both English and American and ringside sportswriters did at times (2,3,9 and 11), but if you got Chad winning them, then, hence, the scores of the judges, however, certainly a fight this competitive and exciting, a fight where Dawson was clearly hurt the public would like and Dawson should take if he wants to erase the controversy.

yep, i thought he won the 1st fight....but it was close, so i'd like him to silence the nay-sayers and get a clear victory over Glen, plus it was a great fight, so that never hurts

I just rewatched the whole thing and I can see someone giving it to Chad Dawson, I can see the argument made the other way as well, however, I am ok with you thinking Chad won as long you would like to see a rematch.

    Close fight but correct decision.

I'm leaning towards yes, but only from an entertainment perspective not because I think Dawson needs to settle any scores against Johnson. Also, should Dawson rematch and beat him up then people will say Johnson has got old overnight.

I'd much rather see Dawson take on B-Hop (not from an entertainment perspective though...)

Well, I definitely think he needs to settle a score. If it was a Dawson victory, it was a completely marginal one, a shaky one, a fight he got hurt in and finished it retreating, a fight he was booed in while the audience cheered his opponent each time as he walked to each side of the ring. Not to take away from the way he, Dawson, rallied back after getting hurt, his fantastic shot selection, to borrow a basketball phrase, and the heart he showed - I agree that of course people will see Johnson got old , the guy is already fourty, but thats just it. He needs to correct his mistake of not knocking out a 39 year old guy.

I would love to see BHop / Dawson as well. That would be a much bigger fight financially so I am sure Chad wouldn't mind it either, but this fight, JOhnson vs Chad 2, would be a big free Showtime fight and has plenty of built in drama as a rematch, especially after all the **** Johnson has talked since.

Plus, Johnson deserves another big fight after his performance in the first one. If he can't get Chad I hope he gets Cloud, or Roy Jones again, or Diaconou.

    This I agree with!

Johnson deserves a big payday. Whether that be Chad or RJJ again. I just cant see him getting one. Little reward for a high risk for most boxers.

Yes, this is the other part of the equation. If he knocked out Glen Johnson, or won a wide UD, it would enhance his reputation.

Now that Calzaghe has retired, yes. If Dawson beats Tarver and Johnson beats Judah then I think it makes sense.
