Yeah I'm not thrilled at all for a third fight either. It's not that Martinez punches harder, he stands on his punches more and is good at using angles his opponents don't see to fire at ala prime RJJ or Pacquiao. I've been saying for the longest that Martinez has decent power even before he fought Pavlik. Cintron got hit by a clear punch from Martinez and he thought he got headbutted.
I wouldn't be too much against it, but I also think that a lot depends on how good Williams looks against Lara. Talking about it at this point seems like jumping the gun, especially since we have no idea how Williams has rebounded from the knockout. Also, I agree with a previous comment that Williams seems far more suited to 154, and I see no reason why Martinez would agree to come down again for a fight with him.
He has always had good snapping power but he has been working on increasing it. He stated in an interview after the first PW fight that he was working on his power since he needs it going up in weight.
I would say putting a smarter use to it, not increasing it if that makes sense. I mean to say he's putting more emphasis on standing on his punches and firing from angles his opponents don't see. They say it's the punch you don't see that hurts the most as you can't avoid/nullify it. He's crafty with his punch delivery.
If P Dub looks good against Lara and possibly another fight towards the end of the year then yes. But I really think the first fight vs Martinez might have ruined him. Though he did win the first fight he took too many clean punches from a bigger Martinez. I'm hoping he switched his style up but from what I'm reading from him and Peterson it's gonna be the same style which may work against Lara but not against Sergio.
I rather Martinez vs JCC Jr fight. But before that ( ofcourse if Jr take the title ) this fight looks good.
If Martinez is gets down to options such as Rubio, then yes, I'd prefer the trilogy, provided PW puts on a good show vs Lara. But if Chavez wins Saturday and really takes the fight, then definitely Chavez comes first.
yes i would rather see this fight than Martinez/Manfredo. which is what it looks like is going to happen if SM cant get a big fight.
nah bring on sturm pirog zbik or chavez or golovkin or real middles unification fights or a bute fight
Hell NO. 3 would be a replay of 2 and the only variable would be the round that it would happen in, because it is bound to happen for the same reasons it happened the first time, which is PW's habit of keeping his head in the same place when he's trying to throw a combination. I felt he would have a game plan to take risk by loading up and throwing Haymakers during his angled dart ins. Martinez hit PW with a fall away, no look Haymaker while PW was trying to throw a 1-2 because he knew PW's weakness from the first time around. Watch the whole fight again and see that he tried more than 5 times to load up and land a haymaker before actually landing it. The same would happen again so no I do not want to see PW slaughtered again like that
Cancel sturm you know his camp want no parts (of anyone decent for that matter). You know dam well Chavez Jr isn't fighting anyone. I don't know if golovkin's people would put him in either. Pirog is the most likely of the one's listed to fight Sergio in the next year or so.
