BJS and Eubank jr both have big British followings, Lemieux would be an easy promotion. One can make the argument 154 has better fighters, but they don't have hype outside of hardcore fans.
Canelo has sparred plenty of MW's before. He doesn't need a behind-closed-doors sparring session with a contender to see that. Canelo famously sparred Golovkin himself back when he was like 19 or 20 years old. Tons of photos and stories of it, although it wasn't filmed.
His sparring session with ggg was a long time ago when he was lighter. No matter how some people think of canelo, one would expect him to get the edge over sparring no name mw. That's the reason I thought Lemieux would be a good test for him. If something like that is possible to arrange.
Im a fan of both Chavez Sr and Chavez Jr. Long before ANYONE took Jr seriously, Isal stood by his side as a fellow Chicano. As a white boy, raised in la raza, el barrio in Chitown, I stood by mi armano Chavez Jr as he fought top level fringe contenders, title challengers, and titlists coming thru the ranks. I prayed he would let his hands go and stop Martinez faster than Margs did. I respected Isal when he backed the NON DUCKING, fight ANYONE Chavez Jr, but lately, as ole Yeller is the only legit Chicano, Isal has lost his friggin mind. :---(
Not at all. And I remember you staunchly criticizing Jr when he was made WBC Champ due to Martinez refusal to fight him. Yes, Martinez was wrongly stripped and rightfully awarded the "diamond" title when he returned, but JR was at that time, while fully focused on the sport, the clear #2 MW behind Martinez. And I could guarantee you today, that if Joe Smith thought he could beat Jr, he'd be looking thru Fonfaras eyes, up at the ref with glazed eyes. :yep:yep:yep
