JC40 posted this last night and was one I had not seen before. Very cool take. I watch as many as I can. Does anyone have some suggestions for less than mainstream docs or lesser known/celebrated fighters?
I really enjoyed the documentary on Amílcar Brusa . It was released in Argentina years ago and it is in Spanish but I can understand most of it.. Anyway, it goes into the tough boxing coming out of Luna Park with footage. Also goes into his training of Monzon and other fighters with footage. And shows him training boxers in the gym which looks like to be a pretty hard core environment.. He trained fighters and has champions from all over Latin America .. And traveled to Miami and Los Angeles too , trained guys from there as well
I uploaded to Youtube an Eder Jofre one with English subtitles. This content is protected This is a good one on Wilfredo Gomez also. This content is protected
Yes. I remember that one. Sad too but it was a well done documentary. Emile Griffith “Ring of Fire” was a good one so too was the Ray Mancini one.
G'day Philly, stoked that you enjoyed the doco about Ellis vs Michaels mate. I really enjoyed the Jofre video, awesome stuff. Here are a couple more interesting docos from Oz. The first one is about Jeff Fenech and was made during his prime. This content is protected This doco is about Fred Brophy and his outback tent fighting show. Really gives a good look at the life of a tent fighter and the small, tough towns in the Australian outback. This content is protected This content is protected Cheers All.
I have seen the Fenech one! The one you posted last night was cool..like another poster said I thought I would glance at it for a few, but it was over in 58 minutes before I knew it....learned a bit about the period and two fighters who are under my radar
HBO did a good one on Liston Louis and Robinson. All separate. The Robinson one is still available on demand if you have HBO.
