Over at the Scene... Fight's off due to BBBoC as there's a embargo on the WBU title here. Tony now fights Darren Stubbs for the IBO International title while Simon is now looking for a opponent.
Fair play to Tony D for taking it on...it was hardly a pay day. Glory. Am sure he knows better than most of us that going over there for a generally regarded non descript title wasnt of importance. Glad its off tbh. Germany x 100 was ma vision.
BBBoC should stick to looking after fights in their own country. Disappointing for Dodson who was well up for it.
I mean, it is a joke trinket but why rob Dodson of the chance for a good name on his CV just to needlessly highlight that obvious point? Granted, I don't know that Simon would still be undefeated had it not been for his legal troubles keeping him sheltered for several years - but it still would have been bragging rights for Tony to officially be the first to vanquish him.
That's out of order from the board. Dodson ought to tell them to go **** themselves and take the fight anyway, given that it was in South Africa. They're not gonna take his passport away from him, are they? The writer makes a really good point that they'll sanction shitty IBO international title fights and allow low level journeymen/bums to fight good quality prospects. Some serious double standards going on here :deal
The WBU is a joke, but that said, the BBB of C should not rob one of its own licence paying fighters of a pay day. Also the fact that ****** twice brought the BBB of C down to its knees because of their refusal first to sanction a WBA title fight and then the IBF version would make you think the Board would of learnt its lesson...
When was this? How come there were hundreds of WBU fights over the past 15 years? Do they sanction IBO int. fights but not IBO World title fights? I dont really get it. The BBBoC should just let Dodson go, its not like he as even gonna try keep the title and defend it back hee I wouldnt have thought.
The board are an absolute disgrace. Look at some of the mismatches they've gladly approved in recent years..... How is a IBO International title any worse than the other Alphabet Inter/Continental bollocks? They're all just trinkets.
the IBO isnt the worst outside the big four sanctioning bodies by a long stretch, current champions include darchinyan and klitschko, previous include mayweather, pacquaio, lennox lewis, pascal, hopkins, its not got the worst reputation so why single them out? the wbo makes some dodgy decisions about rankings, but thats a whole other thread
They were mentioned in the original article because the BBBoC refuse to sanction IBO title fights but do sanction 'IBO International title' fights.
That's the point I'm making. They're all ****, yet the board are objecting to this fight on the basis of the sanctioning organisation, seemingly. It's a good opportunity for Tony yet they're putting the blocker on. He should tell them to get ****ed.
ye but why the inconsistency? why sanction their little trinket belts but not the bodies main belt? and i don't know why they wouldn't sanction IBO fights, they're not the worst offenders as far as dodgy sanctioning bodies go in my opinion
I'd ban the lot of them personally. With the names you mentioned earlier, the IBO title is pointless. When have they ever enforced a mandatory on any of those..? Trinket.
