Having a smaller head would be a disadvantage for those who use their head as a third arm. ex: Andre Ward
I think it probably does make it easier to miss. IE A grazing blow might turn into a pure whiff if you had a smaller head... BUT, I always thought that a larger head might be able to absorb impacts better because there is more bone + a bigger head typically means a bigger neck to support it. If you look at most glass chinned fighters they have tiny heads.
wouldn't that be an advantage? that's a whole new discussion, "when headbutting is it better to have a smaller head or bigger head? or is it all about how you use it?"
I definitely agree that there's a strong correlation with having a small pea head, and being prone to brutal knockouts.
Well, I think if the head is small it would be an advantage because the entire target will and appear to move faster due to lighter weight and size of the target itself. For larger heads, the reverse is true but the skull maybe stronger and the target on the head more difficult to find due to the size which all helps in taking punishment.
