I'm wondering if a win over Haye, which would be one of Wlads signature wins of his career would boost his ranking as an atg? Haye has not done a huge amount as a champion but he is definitley one of the most talented heavyweights Wlad has fought and is the second best heavyweight today outside of both brothers

It's a career defining fight for both of them. Winner goes up a level.

I don't think either of them are anywhere near any ATG ranking whatsoever to be honest. Between them they've beaten exactly ZERO Hall of Fame-level fighters. Wlad could maybe trouble a divisional top 20 at some point, but Haye never will. Overall though Haye was THE champion at CW and if he becomes THE champion at HW as well then that is a pretty big deal, despite the lack of elite competition.

Yea haye beating Wladimir is a good win for him but he would have done next to nothing besides that at heavyweight, so it wouldnt improve his atg standing by much. But Wladimir has done quite a lot already, he consistently fights the best around, and even though the best around now are not that good you still have to give him credit for that. I suppose a better question would be by how much does a win over Haye improve wlads atg standing?

considering so many on this site see Haye as a skilless bum who hasn't beaten anyone and isn't even Wlads best oppoent in their eyes it would have to be no.... to anyone that knows boxing they know this is Wlads most dangerous fight since Sanders so would be a very significant win

It will be a step in that direction.

Just like there was no single win in Larry Holmes Holmes' resume that made him an ATG. It was the accumulation of victories and the 20 title defenses. The most significant I think was Cooney and Norton, but Cooney and Norton aren't ATGs.

If Wlad batters Haye and then Haye retires as promised, he will contribute about the same to Wlads legacy as Cooney did to Holmes'.
