Does a win over Haye improve Wladimir's atg heavyweight standing?

I would probably agree with that, even though I don't keep track of these things. His consistency and longevity are brilliant, and beating Haye would give him a signature win against a high quality opponent and certainly give him a stronger argument in any ATG ranking debate. :good

 

I am already dreading the 100s of threads after the Wlad/Haye fight, regardless who wins:

"Is Wlad #1 ATG after beating Haye???"
"Where do you rank Haye in top 10 HW ATG list???"
"Is Wlad the best fighter since Joe Louis???"
"Would Haye have beaten Ali like he beat Wlad???"

etc. etc.

 

If Wlad manages to win a war................then his standing would improve dramatically.

At the moment, Wlad is regarded as a good champion but ultimately too lacking in chin and heart to be considered an all time great.

 

First of all, where did "lacking in heart" came from?
And so no one with lacking chin can be considered ATG? Hes been down almost same amount of time as great Louis. So is he lacking in chin and can't be considered ATG?

I agree: Here's a question for the chin experts:

If Lewis had gotten up 4x vs Rahman and 4x vs McCall before losing by TKO instead of staying down on the first punch, would that make his chin better or worse in the books of boxing history? :deal

Or in other words: If Wlad had stayed down on the first punch from Brewster and Sanders respectively - thus saving something like 5 knockdowns in his record - would that increase the quality of his chin? :deal

 

Hmmmmm yeah that's my definition also.

But atg heavy must be shorter, perhaps the top 15 or so? There hasn't even been 100 heavyweight champions i'm guessing.

 

I dont recall ever seeing a decent top 100 ATG list to actually debate it, nor have I myself ever attempted to make one. That would be quite a chore to create a top 100 ATG fighter list regardless of weight.

Now, as far as ATG heavyweight this fight helps Wlad for sure. He is already highly regarded being ranked between 15-25 all time by anyone who can look at him objectively at heavyweight. He is making a defense against another title holder who is also fairly highly regarded.

 

No...Haye's not very good. He's only good today because the division is at its weakest point in ages, maybe ever. A win over David Haye is nothing to move a fighter up the all-time rankings over.

...but it is a fun fight for fans and one of the only hw fights worth watching.
