I dont think any serious fight should ever take place in Germany, I rather them fight in a neutral location but not in Germany

Abraham has a good chin and good defense ... but he's often wild and looping with his punches ... he's very dirty ... and he's not that skilled technically.

I think that Pavlik exposes Abraham's lack of skill and beats him either by decision or late rounds stoppage.

Pavlik is an underrated body puncher and has gotten alot more accurrate in his punching.

Abraham also is a shade slower than Kels ...

Germany!!!! in spite of all the shenanigans that historicly have gone on there, you are quite ready to throw Kelly under that bus. I would refuse to let any fighter fight or defend there.

The question should be can any fighter ever expect to get a fair fight or decision there

If Miranda beats Abraham, and that is a very real possibility, no one will care about Pavlik/Abraham. If Abraham beats Miranda, and looks good doing it, Pavlik/Abraham will take place in Atlantic City or Vegas in Jan 2009. HBO has already scheduled a tenative date.

Have you seen the crowds for boxing in Germany? Well, the crowds speak for themselves.

I don't believe that HBO could make it a PPV at 5 PM... cos there's no way they'd fight at 4 or 5 in the morning German time, such madness is exclusive to Frank Warren and the UK.

Has to be state side Germanys rercords for fair fights is just to poor. Besides a fight as big as this has to vegas or Msg. Imo Pavlik beats Abraham late stopage but this could be an all time classic war.

That's the one thing I LOVE about fights in Europe.... It can make a below average seem fairly entertaining.... The crowd is always involved in the fight... I like that soccer like atmosphere...

no, i dont think this fight has to be made in germany cause abraham does have knockout power, i think this thread should be titled "does pavlik vs. sturm have to take place in germany" answer to that is an obv. yes, cause we all know sturm wont get a decision vs. pavlik in the states (watch sturm vs. odlh) to confirm that!!

Abraham will get tons of exposier after the Miranda fight, specially if its another war. HBO could then put both Abraham and Pavlik on the same card fighting different foes, then a unification later on assuming they both win. If this scenario takes place, at best I think it would do 400k buys.

Absolutely not. Pavlik vs. Lockett did the lowest rating for championship boxing on HBO EVER. Unfortunately a double-header is not enough... it's not a PPV worthy fight bacause the audience seeming doesn't give a f* what Pavlik does and 2 US Abraham fights (vs. Miranda, really good one, but on Showtime, and vs. Lorenzo/Marquez on late night HBO boxing, no one cares) won't make him popular among the regular fans...

But this superb matchup can really gain a lot by putting on regular HBO... boxing needs to get back on free TV and Pavlik-Abraham is the kind of fight to get back the non-hardcore, the big audience. Cotto-Margarito as well, but they are sacrificing the potential future audience for the small hardcore PPV-buying fanbase (250.000 buys at most).

Doesn't really matter where it is as long the judges and ref assigned to the fight are from neutral countries, esp. if this happens in Germany. Seen to many BS decisions and outright robberies overthere for Arum to take that chance. Although I think Pavlik offers more technically than Abraham and stops him late.
