Some idiots on the general assume I hate Broner because of you-know-who,but it's not the case at all.
I rate the young man highly, and he might just be a breath of fresh air(once he comes back from his first defeat to a young chap from my neck of the woods;))

I should point out I meant potential ability to be an ATG,not the GOAT.

Which part of it is genuine?

You don't think he'll be the GOAT but has GOAT ability? Or neither?

The answer is the latter, either way. I rate him pretty highly in current boxing but its very unlikely anybody is even going to have a chance to prove they're one of the greatest of all time on ability, because a part of ability is longevity and durability, not just burning bright for a few years. Nobody fights enough.

Plus we have to specify what 'one of the GOAT of all-time' is. I'd have a pretty narrow definition. Not just one of the top 100, you'd have to be getting towards top 25. Just my opinion.

The question is the title. Does he possess the ability to be considered one of?

None of us know if he will be THE GOAT. But can he go down as one of?

Well, in that case I'd say the possibility is remote. First what is one of the GOAT? Is it top 100? That isn't out of the realms of possibility for any extremely talented fighter, it then comes down to opposition, performance level and a bit of luck with injuries and other factors. But top 50? That's a long shot. Top 25 or so and we're talking extremely unlikely because nobody fights enough, or enough quality opposition, I don't think Floyd Mayweather who is seemingly his hero is close to that. Top 10 and you can just forget about it, he'll probably fight about 40 odd fights tops against a variety of mediocre, good and top notch fair that will not amount to enough to get anywhere near.

Based on boxing ability alone. A lot of fighters get mentioned as one of the GOAT, but they weren't very good boxers, they get into that talk because of who they fought and who they beat, but as boxers, some were distinctly average.

To make it easier for you. As a pure boxer.

Can Broner make it into the top 10?

    Can you name some please.

On "pure boxing" (and I'm guessing what you mean by this) then Broner isn't there yet and probably never will be. He's a physical beast that's much better walking people down behind his guard and out gunning them than he is at laying back and trying to create openings with his defence and I think he's probably going to have a much harder time when fighting guys his own size because he won't find it so easy to bully them. To me he's a young welterweight that's been able to boil down and bully smaller less talented guys. He might prove to be the best Lightweight on the planet soon but I doubt he will be able to stay that for long and I don't think he's going to improve enough off the scales to be the best welter on the planet. So to answer your question about will he be considered as one of the greatest "pure boxers" ever, no, but he's a fun guy to watch in the ring and his showmanship outside it will attract loads of attention so get used to "haters" justified or not.
Hopefully he has more bollocks than his idol does when it comes to making fights which will be great because he's almost certain to be a major name in the sport for the next couple of years at least.

BTW I don't think being an aggressive fighter means you can't be considered a pure boxer, for example I think Duran is about as perfect a boxer as anybody is ever likely to be. You don't have to be the reincarnation of Willy Pep to be a technically sound fighter with a sound attack and defence, brilliant footwork and all the tricks. Andre Ward isn't.

Its down to preference though aint it Juke? Lots of people are going to have different lists of GOAT. Not everybody is going to have the same fighters on their list are they? Thats why this sport is so great, everybody is different and has different opinions.

Me, I look for complete boxers, who arent just specifically good at one or two sole things. For someone to be titled as a boxer, Id like to think that means they can do all, and not just one facet or piece of the jigsaw.

We've see a lot of great fighters down the years, best in 1 thing, but average in others. Some of these fighters get talked about a lot being in the arguement for some of the GOAT boxers.

Its not necessarily about records either.

Cant see him coming to much myself. Bloke seems like a lot of noise to me,I might be proved wrong but I see him coming unstuck next year at some point. Certainly do not see him as a potential great,he has not been tested yet. Way too early to be talking about his place in history.

Broner is very good, and will beat Ricky Burns pretty easy imo.

but G.O.A.T is too early to even be thinking about that`

Broner is in no way a complete fighter and never will be.

What is your top 10 P4P of all time?
