We just went through a putrid month of lame boxing in August. i was just starving for some good boxing. It seems like every year that May and September are the best months for boxing where all the big fights happend; and I know it has to do with Mexican holidays & stuff but cmon, does it always have to be those 2 months. I would prefer all the big fights be spread evenly throughout the year so we could good consistent fights all year instead of jam packed in a particular month or two. It's BS.

Not to mention, a lot of good quality boxing fights are scheduled on same nights at big UFC nights. It's really bad scheduling. Like the Brook/GGG fight is on same night as UFC 203.

And if Klitschko/Fury 2 didn't cancel, it would've competed with UFC 200 and surely lose viewership. The boxing world could've schedule some big fights in August but it didn't. It's complete BS.

    Who's with me on this?

    Who wants it to change?

Those dates were a Mexican fighter like say a Chavez, then DE LA Hoya made it a staple after Floyd got the win against Oskie he somehow felt like he got those dates.

Those are Mexican fight dates tho.

i also wish for better distribution, but i think big fights on those months is a tradition that makes boxing views a pretty sure bet. its like scheduling a football game on thanksgiving, its gonna get views..

The two largest Maxican holidays happen in those months. Mexicans make up the largest portion of boxing fans.

    Put two and two together.

Funny thing is that those are the fights I've often missed. They're always way overpriced paperviews in the US (usually premium or subscriber network in Europe), and usually pretty dull so often I don't even tune in to see it live.

So for me it doesn't bother me in that regard, because it's not like those were the fights I was actually waiting for the last couple of years. What does bother me is that those dates were hijacked to get the money from the Mexican fans while in some cases there wasn't even a very good Mexican on the card. In the first couple of years it was, but less everytime.

I always wondered about that two. Maybe honoring sinco de mayo, maybe schools out, maybe it dont conflict with the big three basketball, football, baseball

september no basketball, no serious football, baseball winding down

or it give fighters a good 6 months train just in case they want to fight twice a year.

or after april they need money to pay taxes, and september all their girlfriends need tuition money.

May falls on a bunch of hols, Japanese fans have the "Golden Week" there as well, also late December for big fights in Japan. Traditionally the Thai King's birthday had some pretty big fights in Thailand too.
